Advice Please
This isn't really KX related but I have posted up here with KX probs in the past.
My latest problem is that i just purchased a simpletech 250GB external firewire 7200rpm drive and for the 4th time I have the error message that the "file/directory is corrupt and unreadable". I am unable to access the drive. My only option has been to reformat and reinstall everything. I'm wondering whether i have a faulty drive and if it is time to send if back. The only things I have installed on this drive are my soft synths sound libraries which I run directly from the drive and my general backup folders. My vst plugins for the soft synth are on my internal drive. Anyone got any ideas? many thanks stinkystank. |

Hi:
Manufacturers of HDDs usually have a software utility available for download on their site. It can format the drive and check it for errors or let you know if it's defected or working properly. It may be that you need to go to the manufacturer's site and check for a software utility from them for formatting your drive. Sometimes you have to use the manufaturers software utility for formating the HDD rather than letting windows do it. If you haven't done this, maybe you can give it a try and see how things go?
