Mobo: nf7-s 2.0, soundstorm with it's poor analog quality, but good drivers & options

Sound card: live! 24-bit, with poor drivers & options, but much better analog quality

Speakers: 5.1, analog, not important [modded Hercules XPS 510]

What I want: in a word, use live! as a digital decoder [soundstorm ----digital (s/pdif) ---> live! ----analog----> speakers).

I've connected s/pdif out from mobo to digital in on sb live, but it doesn't recognize the signal properly, no matter what I do.

Any ideeas PLEASE? Thanx!
