Hi all,
after switching from a 2 speaker to a 5.1 setup i noticed my sb0220 does not
achieve what i hoped it would:
as many others i can't get the rear+center speakers to work. up until yesterday i was using retail creative labs drivers which i found out do not
fully support the sb0220 since it's oem. after searching the web i came across the kX project. i...
-downloaded and installed the 3538g drivers,
-set "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties->Speaker Settings->Advanced->5.1" in WindowsXP
-set the kX "Speaker Mode" to "5.1"
-set "Surround" to "Copy"
-checked "Use Subwoofer Out"
-checked "Bass Redirection"
but i still get only 2.1 sound. i tried the method presented in
this thread but it didn't
work for me. From what i understand the problem is i have a different
codec (STAC9708) than what this method was working with (STAC9758).
I use 3x 3.5mm stereo plug<->2RCA-plugs to connect my sb0220 to my receiver's 5.1 input.
