??? SPDIF bypass and direct recording

hello everybody,

I am newbie with Kx driver.

here is my setup:
sony DAT (output optical spdif) -> (input optical spdif)Creative audigy 2 ZS platiniun pro -> PC running Kx drivers (5.10.0.3537) (optical digital output) -> (optical digital input)Sampler Akai S1000

I want to do 2 things:

1/ I have got DAT cassette with sound+program in for my sampler. It is a special format with sound and ROM data.
I want to pass-thru my creative card to allow to load sound file from DAT to sampler.
But i don't know how to do this.
Note: I know we can do that with creative drivers using control panel and set spdif to bypass.

2/ because my DAT cassette are very old, I would like to make backup of them on my PC. How to stricly record from and play to SPDIF ? I have tried using sound forge without any success (using direct record in Kx control panel - setting sound forge to 48 khz)? something else to do ?

thanks in advance.

marc

Hi!

To do what you want, you need the ability of bit to bit copying and transferring between computer/DAT/Sampler. I doubt this is supported by the driver or finally by the hardware. Direct SPDIF recording allows in WDM-mode theoretically a bit to bit copying, but SPDIF in´s and out´s are not really able to transfer really 1:1 due to re-synchronising the data with the card´s fixed clock - so no way... Try to make a copy of the DAT (if possible) in the way of loading data into the sampler and saving it onto another DAT-cassette.
