audio device got lost
after being busy with kx drivers for a sb live on win xp. the drivers would not install correct, sound would work in certain programs but the mixer failed to load (see my other post for details) since there was no audio device listed in sound and audio devices under the control panel.
i couldnt solve this problem.
now i decided i was enough and took away the sb live and replace it with a fine m audio card. install went ok, sound is working but...... there is still no audio device listed! in the control panel. all the drivers look fine in the device manager, programs like itunes, winamp and cubase work fine, but windows media player give no sound, neither does sony sound forge, and perhaps others. i guess these apps read their soundsettings from the control panel, or something like that.
does anyone know what i can possibly do to restore this?
also, i lost support for the AC97 onboard card. not that i care much, i wont use it, but.....
i need to do a lot of work in soundforge before the weekend, i am kinda stressed out about this problem! please help.
