help! error initializing winMM subsystem

i worked all fine for a day, but then (after the first reboot i suspect) the kx mixer started to give me the error initializing winMM subsystem. i tried the suggested reinstallation but it doesnt help. i am using version 3537. the sound works fine, but there's no mixer and the sound item in control panel tells me thats there's no sound device. i don't know what to do to solve this issue, please help.

try moving the card to a new PCI slot then re-installing kX

What OS do you use? Win98SE?

i tried different slots, reinstalling. no use! same error over and over again.
i am getting a bit desperate about this thing now.
the os is win xp.

i took the card out. it just doesnt work. i bought the thing because i knew about these drivers.. installed another card, but now my systems seems like permanently damaged. i cant get an audio device listed in de control panel > audio/sound devs. in the sounddriver properties it said the new drivers are enabled but not started. windows media player, my browser and soundforge dont give sound.

itunes, winamp and asio programs like cubase sx do work. the system is in this condition since the kx drivers.

any suggestions for restauration or do i have to reinstall windows and everything??
