Theremin
Hi, I know this is a bit off topic, but can anyone point me to a good electronic scheme of a Theremin? I'm really interested in building one to use in my music. Thanks!

Yo!
no schematics yet, but alternatively there are VSTi that will do that and you can control them via MIDI. www.kvr-vst.com
If that is nothing for you I could dig into my old electronics lecture to get some schematics .
Greetings!

I've heard that many years of practice are required just to be able to get the right notes of this thing

Thansk for the replies, but here in Brazil I just can't find those kits in the electronic stores... I just found a guy who makes theremin's here, but his models only control frequency and not amplitude. I wanted to control both things simultaneously. Yep, I heard they're pretty difficult to control and I've experimented with VST one's and also with SageBrush Mousing (computer mouse theremin). I'm willing to take the time to master it though hehehe In fact, I don't have much experience with electronics but buying a moog made theremin is too expensive for me right now (they are US$299,00 in US - here they'd cost me around US$450,00).

Hi you all, there was a free plugin from fxpansion called 'Mysterion' that did exactly this, but now is abandoned. But I 've got it so I can send it to you if you like.

Thanks Nando. I have that plugin. I like it, but I'd still want to go for the real thing hehe

If you are still looking for that theremin kit, these kits are pretty easy to build, and they do send them to Brazil. http://thereminkits.com

Thanks for all the replies. Zaxa, I checked that website and indeed they ship anywhere in the world. To order from Brazil I have to pay 60% custom taxes over the product + shipping. It'd cost me US$180,00 to get the one they announce. I just found a web store in Brazil which sells different models (finally!) but they are also a bit expensive. http://www.knob.com.br/produtos.asp?...dDesc=Theremin If you take the price you see in that store (in R$ - reais) and divide it by 2.9 you have the price in US$. A Moog Etherwave Standard costs in Brazil US$759,00. They also carry an Alesis and a Hiwatt model which are around US$330,00 which I'll check. Anyway, right now I have no money for that kind of expense... Will have to save a bit! I just though Theremin's were way cheaper!
