No subwoofer in Counter Strike: Source

Hey, I posted a question before, but then I realized I was using the search feature incorrectly. Between the search and the FAQ I found a bunch of answers to other issues I was having. This is a great forum (and great software).

That said, one problem I still have since installing the kX drivers is that CS:Source refuses to output anything from the subwoofer. Since I am using the bass redirection feature in kX I assumed that would work for everything. I get great subwoofer action from MP3s and in Doom 3.

I am using an Audigy 2 ZX card, windows XP service pack 2, and I am using the 3 analog out jacks with minijack -> dual RCA Y-adapters feeding into my receiver.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it something I did wrong, or maybe something in the game?

Any help would be appreciated.

What settings do you have CS set to for Audio?...I don not play this game so...I wouldn't know..but I would start with that.

The settings are very barebones. I don't know if that is because it is not the final version or something...

Speaker Configuration: 5.1
Sound Quality: High

Music and SFX volume are both at max.

The only other option there is the test, which loads up a fake level of a room with speakers. Each speaker then lights up and announces it's position. When it gets to the subwoofer there is nothing. I retested in game and there is no output from the sub at all when there clearly should be.

I was going to make another topic to see if I could get the subwoofer to output without using Bass Redirection... when I turn it off I get none what-so-ever.

Verify that your multimedia properties in windows is set to 5.1 sometimes it defaults to 2.0 after a driver addition.

Ok, the windows sound properties is set to 5.1 surround.

I noticed there a bunch of listed 'devices' listed under sound playback and the 0/1 is selected. Also 'use only default devices' is checked.

Does changing that do anything of use? I couldn't find it in the documentation.

the use defaut only doesn't really do much afaik, but i generally keep it unchecked
