Doug W is on a distinguished road

CD audio from front speaker when rear selected

I finally decided to do something last night about the fact that audio CDs play out of the front speaker (using Windows Media player) even when rear speakers are selected in KX setup.

I searched some threads up here on the subject, and based on reading those, I opened Media player

Tool->Options->Devices tab->Highlight Compact disc->Properties button->Playback (select DIGITAL)
Hit OK, OK

after doing that, sound came out the rear speaker

Then I went:
Tool->Options->Devices tab->Highlight Compact disc->Properties button->Playback (select ANALOGl)
Hit OK, OK

Sound continues to play through the rear speaker.

This worked on two computers

Win 98 SE, KX 3534f drivers, Media player 9 and

Win XP Pro, KX 3537 drivers, Media player 10

I don't know why it works but I no longer have to switch my speakers around to listen to CD Audio.

Ahem - not fully understand your message - but you know that MediaPlayer since ver.9 is able to play at each selected output device, not only at wave0/1 like before? Maybe your setup routes the different devices to different outputs and MediaPlayer sends the sound on that special device... .

Greetings!
