Midi recording problem in Cubase SX 2

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had encountered problems when recording midi in cubase sx 2. It is fairly intermitent so it could be anything really, but changing the samplerate from 48 to 42 in the asio setup seems to stop it happening. It is most bizarre because when you are recording midi from say a controller keyboard, the notes you recorded have all moved backwards (i.e. forward in time) about 1/16 of a bar so it isn't really a delay at all, but you can actually see the problem happening while recording.
Sorry this probably doesn't make any sense. Another way of explaining it is that when I'm recording midi, it SOUNDS fine, i.e. very low latency, etc. but when I then play back the part I have just recorded I find the notes are all offset by about 1/16th of a bar. Its very wierd.

computer setup:

winXP SP1
512mb ram
soundblaster audigy with latest kx drivers
cubase sx 2
m-audio radium 69

i have heard of this happening in nuendo, but the person using it wasn;t using kX - it seems to be a steinberg engine specific problem…
try using the steps listed here

I had the same problem with midi timing exactly.
It started after I followed an "expert advice" that would improve miditiming. (I had no problem with this really)
The "advice" was to copy the file "ignoreportfilter" from the default map "Midi port enabler"
to the "Cubase SX" map.
This causes the midi in ports to be listed twice in device setup.
The midi in port labeled [emulated] should then be inactivated.
The midi in port without this label should be used when recording.
This then causes exactly the same problem described by you.
I returned to the previous state by just deleting the file "ignoreportfilter" from the Cubase SX map
and changed to the original midi in port (with the label [emulated].

This has taken me minutes to write, but the problem took me several hours to solve.
I hope you find this useful, at least I (and I'm certainly no expert) advice you to be careful when listening to "expert advices".
