Thinking about using KX Driver
Howdy,
I currently have the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platnium Pro soundcard and a supernice Logitech Z680 5.1 speaker system. I am a huge music buff and i listen to mp3 music constantly, I also do some amatuer home recording using Cool Edit Pro 2.0. I am considering utilizing the KX drivers, but I want some input from other users. I am having utter hell with the Creative drivers keeping the settings for my speaker system, the THX console especially, I have them completely updated and everything. Also, should I completely uninstall everything from creative (i.e. Audio HQ, Creative mediasource, creative mixer, etc.) or just uninstall the driver prior to putting the KX driver in. Anyone have any input and/or suggestions?

P.S. = Ever since putting the Logitech Z680's on my system I have not been able to get the Creative speaker test stuff to work right, static only come out right and left and not all five speakers.

Well, a couple of days after posting this thread, I took the dive and uninstalled every piece of Creative software I had. I installed the KX Project drivers and software and all I can say is WOW! The sound is so much more robust, clearer, and just plain better. I am now an adament believer and I stress to anyone to trash that Creative software and drivers ASAP!!!! KX project driver is my pick from now on! Thanks!

Yup, the kX drivers may be a bit trickier to configure when you're a newbie, but after you discover their potential - there's no going back Everyone seems to be talking about features, but what got me into kX in the first place was sound quality. I still wonder what did creative do to mess up their sound so badly

most likely made the sound too loud - causing clipping etc, or just had incompetent coding in the DSP

I actually think they employed some EQ-like tone correction in DSP, which you can't switch off and which "eats up" some of the details in sound. This seems very "Creative" to me
