Got a decent recording for once...

Got a decent sound out of really crap hardware for once. I thinks I learned something.

Clip from my latest shred piece...
Clarity in RED

Now...what do these KX drivers do?

kX can do quite a bit, allows low latency ASIO for recording, you can put effects on your input and output sounds without increasing the CPU load

EDIT:
take a look at several of these links to help you understand kX better
http://kb.kxproject.com/guide
http://www.kxproject.com/help.php

also what sequencer/recording software are you using?

Hmmm...

I just use an RP200 and it's built in Midi drum, record the drum beat and rythym/chord progression
to cassette, then loop it back through the RP from another tape deck and solo on top, all at the same
time. I also don't punch-in. I always just do a one-take all or nothing recording, so I'm not sure
what I can use from KX off-hand.

I hate reading manuals...don't have the patience for them unfortunately.

Dunno...

you should record directly on the computer, you don't lose quality with the tape deck. the getting started guide will help you understand certain aspects of kX, and is mostly screenshots and a little description
