exclamation General Misconception

Not really kX related, but it relates to optimising your computer for audio, so i thought it may be of interest.

One misconception i have read about is that lowering the hardware acceleration for graphics is beneficial.

It's not.

Perhaps lowering it by one notch may help, but any lower and you are increasing the CPU load, as the CPU is taking the load of the GPU - in turn adversely affecting your audio capabilities.

Hope that people found interest in this, and if anyone has any stronge objections to the accuracy of this, please post with proof

You're right.

This is sometimes recomended with some recording software, because from time to time there are problems with sound wave plotting. I've had a similar problem with the late CoolEditPro and nVidia card and had to turn down some acceleration features of the card in order for CoolPro to work.

But in general turning down acceleration is necessary only if you experience some software problems, not on principle.
