Appreciate your response Gerald, however, this raises another issue,I was thinking of trying out the Soundblaster mp3 as it is the "cheapest" good external soundcard on the market but now with what you wrote,I have to find out if the kx drivers will work with ANY external soundcard?Anyone else?

kx will only work with internal 0k1 or 10k2 cards, live, audigy series, for ur external one, search for "ASIO4ALL" that should help you

I was looking to use the kx drivers only becuase of the DSP effects it comes with, the Asio4all does not appear to have the those effects, appreciate the info though.

mikehende,
Get yourself a pair of Creative cards from Ebay for 1/4 the price of one new one. Then install the KX drivers. I have 2 cards installed in my computer and I have and Audigy on the way from Ebay. Here is the list of compatible cards.

Doug W,appreciate the info but my problem is that I have a laptop and so will need an "external" card but eveyone here has not told me that the kx drivers will not work with an external soundcard,so there's nothing I can do unfortunately, thnaks.

I may be wrong, but I think that Creative's USB cards don't even use the same DSP chips. So probably even a working kx driver wouldn't help you much...

yeh the USB cards use software to emulate the EAX and other support… meaning an increased load on the CPU… so a waste of money really if you have a 10kx card

Mikehende,
One card you might want to look into for your laptop is the MAYA 44 USB by AudioTrak. Here is a link:
http://audiotrak.net/maya44usb.htm
I suggest that you look around and read some reviews as I have never touched a real live one, just liked the price I guess.

mp3+
does the mp3+ have the 10k chip or not?confused now.mp3+ appears in list of supported devices..have tried the asio4all driver with it,but not that special; a real shame because its a neat box and doesnt require psu.anyone know if kx does work with it or not,for sure?if not suggestions for smallsize,psu-less usb s/card?
