Audigy recording: pops & crackles
Hello everybody!
I have a very strange problem. After upgrading my pc to WinXP, I have strange crackles and pops at random times in my recording done with Audigy1 and kx-drivers (v3537).
The record source is a m-audio delta audiophile soundcard connected via spdif(coax) cable to the CD-digital in on my Audigy soundcard. The system load is not that high (about 30-40%) when recording. And the harddisk was defragmented some day ago.
So does anybody have an idea what's going on here? Please, i need help or I cannot finish my recordings...
Thanks&greets,
krise2000.

Hi!
Hmm, I think 30-40% system load while simple recording is relatively high - if no other tracks played back at the same time - but anyway: try to swich processors power to background services and reply here with more system specs!
Greetings!

i have switched the processor power to background services before. no change there. i also read about disabling acpi mode in windows, but the pops & crackles still remain.
ok, i should have said, that i try to record music made with logic audio running max 8 audio tracks and about 12 midi tracks on the same computer. and i should say that this all was _no_ problem with win2000 or win98se. so it has to be winxp specific, i think.
some system specs: amd athlon xp 1800+, 512mb ram, windows xp prof, motherboard asrock k7vt2 (via chipset, installed new via 4in1 driver), sb audigy1, m-audio delta audiophile, yamaha sw1000xg.

Alot of the pops and crackles could be coming from un-needed services running in the background of windows XP. Check out this site http://www.beemerworld.com/tips/servicesxp.htm for services that can be shut off. And I also always recommend using "Blackbox" for windows.. or bblean, these are replacement shells for the windows explorer which has a much lower memory load. Info about "bblean" can be found here http://bb4win.sourceforge.net/systembarex/
If none of that helps. Try going into the settings menu of kx and check your buffer setup.
