Onboard Sound Problems (Realtek)
I just rebuilt my shuttle system (SB75G2 http://us.shuttle.com/specs2.asp?pro_id=388) with a 2.8c - stick of kingston 512 ddr and a 9800pro. This is the first time i tried using onboard sound and I have noticed that my headphones seem to be picking up noise which relates to the computers processes. When I open up a game, search for a file, i hear corresponding noise come out of the headphones and it is REALLY annoying. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks alot

this problem is unrelated to this forum (you should have used the audio discussion forum)
but in any case⦠check to see if the cd audio cable runs across infront of the cpu or hdd or northbridge, if it does change its path by moving it around or disconnecting it (such cables are no longer necessary in any case)

general discussion for the kx project lol
try muting input sources in the mixer before cracking open the case because if that doesn't work then the cd audio cable isn't the issue

well i think due to the fact that it IS onboard sound, ie the analogue paths are built into the m/b instead of a pci crd, that you are gettin emi interference from somewhere on the board, sounds like it is either the northbridge or cpu

yeh XP reads the audio data through the IDE channel if it is set to read in digital mode - i have issues w/ that so i use two 2pin connectors - 1 to cd s/pdif and one to the aud_ext connector, but it records digitally fine through the IDE ports
