Possible to record thru MIC only while Line in is in use?

Hi all.

Trying to get these awesome KX drivers to work with my setup...(I've got a Live 5.1 digital). A problem though:

I'm currently using LINE IN to monitor a Roland Jv-1010 (Sound module). At the same time I want to record a second source (a guitar or mic) without recording the LINE IN. But while recording I still want to hear the LINE IN.

So I need two physical inputs where one should be monitor and the other recorded. Is LINE IN and MIC my only options? (Or if I use the onboard AUX or CD - due to the fact that MIC is mono) . In the KX mixer all these are found in the AC97 tab. In the RECORDING tab my only way to choose MIC as recording source is to choose AC97. But then I'll record BOTH my LINE IN and my MIC. This is undesirably in my case.

In the RECORDING tab there are some other sources like AUX2, LINE2 etc. Can I use these in any way? Can I connect any of these software-wise to a physical input at my card?

/Andy

You can only ever record one AC97 source, so select LINE as record from, but you should still be able to hear the other AC97 inputs, but they won't be recorded unless you set the record from as STEREO MIX
BTW AUX2 & LINE2 are the physical inputs from the LIVE/AUDIGY drives and unless you have one of those drive bays, they are un-available without complex electronics (Adding in ADCs to the AUD_EXT pins)

Hi and thanks for replying.

Sadly enough, when choosing for example MIC as Recording source in the AC97 tab, the other AC97 sources (as LINE IN) are muted. The only way to hear both sources are to choose Stereo mix. But then again, both sources are also (of course) recorded.

I could achieve this with my original creative drivers, but the KX drivers offers many other benefits. So I really want this to work. But if selecting one specific recording source mutes all other AC97 sources even for playback only then it's nothing to do, or?
