Minor problem on installing (or maybe upgrading) kX Driver
Hi everyone,
I just realize a minor problem when I install (actually upgrade) every new kX Driver version.
The problem is Master Volume and Wave Volume will be changed to 100% After loading the driver for my SB0222, thus making a horrible sound then Setup prompts to install the driver for kX Game Port (I am using an USB speaker that does not have power switch and volume knob).
I don't know this problem occurs just in my PC or somebody will have the same problem.
Although this is really a minor problem, but a fix for this will be very appreciated.

after the driver is upgraded, the settings are automatically reset...
(and the previous configuration is restored (if possible) only on the next kxmixer start-up)
so, there's no good solution for this problem at the moment

Yes, the configuration does reset on next startup after the startup sound.
But, is it possible to tweak the driver inf so it will not set the volume to highest (Just like other sound card drivers that will set the volume to 50%)?

yes, this is possible -- but I'm sure we will get thousand of messages: "why is the default volume set to 50%?"
moreover, keep in mind, that only '100%' and '0dB' values give you the best audio quality
that is, if you set the volume to 50%, you may lose audio data
so, the best way is to set everything to '100%' and '0dB' and use -analog- volume controls found on your speakers / receivers etc..

OK, Thanks. I learned a lesson...
Is it possible to translate the names of input/output sources in kx.inf at later versions?
The last thing, I found the "Save Settings" in kX Mixer does not save Master Volume's mute status. Is it by design or bug? If I add the entry manually, it will still work.

kX Mixer uses translated names for anything, however, it is currently impossible to change the strings in the kx.inf file due to certain driver limitations
as for 'mute' -- well, it seems to work for me (with 3535..3536 releases)
try to give a more detailed description of the bug

Oops...Sorry, it's my problem.
I can find the master_mute line now.
