SPDIF Icon
Hello,
I am using version 3535B with Win 98SE. I have my 2 sound cards tied together SPDIF IN to SPDIF IN. I don't seem to have any control over the SPDIF level yet.
I remember reading that an ICON should show up on the desktop when the SPDIF is correctly enabled. Is this correct?
Under SETTINGS-> I/O the Master card shows an SPDIF input.
I have a CT4670 card as a slave to a CT4830. I might try to replace the CT4670 with another CT4830 tonight and see if that has any effect.
So my main question is; Does an ICON appear on the desktop when the SPDIF is functioning?
Thanks,
Doug W

You should connect SPDIF OUT to SPDIF IN, and not IN to IN...

Sorry,
That was a misprint, I have SPDIF out (CT4670) to SPDIF IN (CT-4830).

the SPDIF icon should show once when you inter-connect the cards
if it flashes constantly, your spdif connection is incorrect: bad cable, unstable connection, power supply issues etc...
in the I/O window check if sampling rate of the SPDIF input remains constant
if the sampling rate or channel status indicators change frequently, the connection is incorrect

Hi!
If all connections are correct, the SPDIF level can be adjusted at the mixer of the receiving card with CD-DIGITAL - fader (or SPDIFB: OPTICAL-COAX or SPDIFC Z-Video) or at the sending card mixer via the output faders Front / Rear / SUB-CENTER. I think it´s okay to leave all these faders @ 100% to have the possibility of reaching 0db (´cause none of the SPDIF-outs can exceed this level).
Greetings!

Thanks for the replies,
After switching to 3 different SPDIF in-out configurations I finally got the SPDIF out 0 (CT4670) to CD Digital in (CT4830) working.
So at the SENDING card, none of the SPDIF faders need to be adjusted?
Thanks again,
Doug W

in general, no
the 'spdif out' is usually the same as 'front out'
if you have 'Generic SPDIF out' slider, you can use it for adjusting output level
