installation faied on winxp pro with CT4670

On a newly installed winxp pro, I installed kxdrv3534f-full, the installtion process went without error. while after I rebooted, the welcome sound of windows was still ok, after loading Kx Mixer, the whole system became mute!

Last time I installed Kx was on a windows 2003, it failed to work either --- after rebooting, when loading Kx Mixer, an error dialog popped out saying"initialize secondary hardware buffer failed". But the fancy part is that if I "reset settings" in Kx Mixer, the sound went as normal as long as I do not close the error dialog.

But now, the system just muted and nothing magic could happen...

I was really driven mad by this.... could anybody give me a hint or something? thanks!

Hardwareaccerlation

have you set the hardwareaccerlation to full. you´ll find it in the systemproperties under multimedia (in w98se) or under sounds and multimedia (w2k, xp) set the speakers to 5.1 surround and on the second page set both sliders to full. also on the rec-page

I am using winxp pro, but there is no Sound and Multimedia under System Properties pages... While I did set the hardware accelerations to full in display properties, not working apparently...

could you tell more details about where to set the speakers to 5.1 and where to set "both" slides to full? thanks.

don't forget to check if you have swapped front & rear channels!
open the 'surrounder' plugin and check the correct speaker settings

>> windows 2003

it sometimes doesn't set-up hardware acceleration automatically

>> win XP

it should set-up the correct setting for the hardware acceleration

failed installation?

I wonder if my winxp installation failed, too. I didn't receive any error messages- but when I went to KX Project in my "All Programs" list, there's no icon to start the app. All I have is: "browse the SDK", "install Aureal", "install 98 fix", "reinstall" and "uninstall". Do I have the mixer or any of the actual features anywhere? Plus I have no sound now, and I used to- even after uninstalling SB Live! Can I just disable the Creative drivers instead of uninstalling them? (it seems so drastic!) Sorry about having so many questions, but I'm a total new-jack. I'd appreciate any advice.. especially if you can explain it to me like I'm sort of a doofus.. which I suppose I am, at the moment. Thanks!
