ac97 source to "just record"
i'm using the 5.1 direct path speaker mode and have the analog front output to my home stereo and analog rear to my headphones. now, when i choose "mic" on the ac97 page, i can hear everything that's recorded + some static on the analog front output, of which the ac97 codec is responsible for. on the headphones everything stays nice & quiet. now i'm wondering if there's a way to have the mic to "just record", and not be audible in neither of those outputs? or is this a problem of both the recoriding + 1 output going through the ac97 chip?

forgot to add, that it absolutely doesnt matter how any levels in in+outs or recording pages are set. i can still hear myself on the home stereo at exactly the same volume. only adjusting the mic boost has any effect on the volume level at all.
