Make sure it is Win98SE, as I do not think regular Win98 was supported.

Also, I think the last version was 3538h, but as Max said, it had some stability issues with Win98SE/WinME, so stick with 3537 (or 3534F) if your card was supported in that version.

Hey Russ

I'm on w98 SE all right... still doesn't install...

It showed me list (so I can select my device manually) and then asked me to restart (but never worked since then). It detected my card as 0358 (when i manually asked driver wizard to search location) and my card seems to be 035x (x is not 0, its just x)

what could be wrong here? it surely works on XP and OSX could it be that my card was not on the database of that driver?

Audigy 2 ZS may not be on the list...... (I take it that 035x means SB0350)

This is exactly what I think... not sure when the driver was officially released. I got this system in 2005 (and Dell guys did not support w98) so modified INF from scratch (Intel stuff) and made all my devices recognised to W98 then installed modified nVidia driver (which worked) then was looking for broadcom Ethernet driver for w98 (took me 1 and half hour to find)

Now I'm stuck at kX

The thing is I tried installing W98 since past 3 years but display never got out of 16 color (primary reason why i never went back to it) however I found some interesting information (to remove conflicts) and special driver made by MDGx or Maximus (at MSFN)

You could try 3538h, but the installation was a bit complicated (you need 3538c, 3538g, and 3538h) and again, there is the stability issues...

The installation procedure:
New users: Installing 3538
I do not know of any current links to the files, but I could send them to you...

Re: Which was the stable Windows 98 kx DRV? Russ? Link?

From my "private" data base:

============================================
>What am I doing wrong?

You are doing everything right. kX's setup (since v.37) just does not work correctly under 98SE.

>I've done that and each time I point to the 3537 directory under KXProject and it loads the same driver

Find kx.sys (in 3537 directory) - rename it to kxnt.sys (or just delete)
Find kx98.sys - rename it to kx.sys
Reinstall (e.g. 'update driver' from within devices panel)
