Mackie skin.
Hello all,
I have created a skin for the KX mixer based (loosely) on my now dead mixing desk.
It is available for download at:
http://www.mccartneyland.fsnet.co.uk/mackie/index.htm
It is not yet perfect yet, as it is my first attempt. Please let me know what you think.
Chris.

looks nice -- but requires some changes in order to support APS and Audigy/Audigy2 boards
I'm sure you'll receive lots of messages from our users with the details

Thanks Eugene!
Hi Eugene,
Thanks for replying to the post, I am pleased that you have taken the time. One thing that creating this skin has shown me is just how much work you must have put into this project to get it to where it is today!
I am aware that there are issues with other setups from my own. If anyone tries out the skin with an audigy, audigy 2 or APS setup (or any others that have display issues with the skin), I woud appreciate it if they could please send me screenshots of the offending page(s) with details of their setup , so that I can use them to correct the issues and release a new version in a couple of weeks.
Thanks to all.
Chris.

btw. you can emulate mixer behaviour with different models by specifying some command line switches (like "kxmixer --aps")..
See kxhelp->kX Command Line Reference for details.

Hi Max,
Am I missing something here?
I tried changing the mixer card recognition by typing the commmands at command prompt but these just ran the mixer in its current mode. Do I have to include the line in the skin files (as a temporary measure) or is there another place to be doing this?
Thanks,
Chris.

'emulation' doesn't always work as expected...
the main difference between cards is found in the kxskin.ini file --
* the 'ac97' section (for instance, '3-d extension')
* the 'e-drive' section
* all the 'special' features found on the main mixer page
make sure you have all the images in your skin archive, and correct their coordinates (if necessary)
anyway, I guess the best way is to encourage audigy/audigy2/aps users to send their snapshots...
(both: correct one (with Aqua) and incorrect one (with Mackie skin))
/Eugene

Thanks Eugene,
That meakes me feel a little bit better :-)
So... C'mon people! Anyone who thinks they might like to see a FULLY working version... send me some screenshots of the bits that don't work and I'll fix it.
I have already fixed the DSP and the problems with not being able to see the links.
If anyone is not sure: Hold the Alt key, press the Print Screen key/Sys Rq, Paste into your favourite art program (or MS Paint) and save it as is. Send to me. It really is that simple (sorry if that was teaching granny to suck eggs!).
My Email address: chris@mccartneylandstrings.com
Thanks,
Chris.

Update
Helo All,
Thanks for the encouraging comments.
I have updated the skin several times since last posting to include more skinned pages and windows.
I still haven't managed to make find out the details of what is missing to make it work with other setups, although I think I have finally got someone to take some screenshots of it for me on monday.
Anyway, the last update to the file was done on thursday 29th, so give it a go .

Thanks,
Chris.

Nice work Chris.
I've put up some APS screenshots so you can see what's still missing:
