does kx handle 6ch ds in other way then creative?
Hi.
Im trying to get a movie containing a 6ch audio stream to work(not AC3). Now windows media player and BSPLAYER reports the audio to be 6 channels and using directsound out. Now for the strange part I can only hear 2 channels and if I add a peak to the other channels nothing is shown either. But if I install creatives drivers I get 6 channels audible and it sounds correct.
So does KX driver handle the directsound output in the same way ore is it something else that is messing things upp.
Using KX drivers 3533b with a Soundblaster Live 5.1.
(ac3 and some player work its only the movie players that doesnt and I have asked on movie forum also they says that I have the correct filters and all). Also when I tried a downmix filter they recomended on another forum all the sound died in the players that used it.
Anyone have ideas/info plz post.

You need to set the Surrounder DSP effect to the correct number of speakers. Available also through the 'Speaker Setup' option in the first page of Kxmixer. This should make it work.

Um not following I have in the surrounder chosen 5.1 setup and chosen the preset 5.1 direct path this works for DVDs and AC3 but not for what I mentioned above.

Oh, ok. In that case...well, for this to work hardware acceleration has to be enabled. Make sure the acceleration is set to full in Sound/Multimedia properties, and that if your program has an option, it has hardware acceleration enabled too. With acceleration enabled, the Directsound (0/1) output should handle 5.1 channels.

Usually, directshow filters that output to directsound use acceleration anyway. None of mine have the option, but if it isn't that... well, i don't think I can help any more.

make sure you've selected 'Wave 0/1' as your preferred wave device
the others (4/5, 6/7, 8/9) are stereo-only
