Audigy 2 ZS SB0350 no rec signal

I upgraded from my SBLive 5.1 SB0228 with KX3545b driver to Audigy 2 ZS with KX3545b driver. (thought I might get better sound and recordings) I uninstalled driver, replaced Live with Audigy, installed KX drivers (3545b), rebooted. Right now I have output signal but no input signal. I uninstalled drivers, rebooted, installed the drivers again. Nothing changed. I'm trying to record from one program to another. I tried changing devices in program. No such luck. In KX mixer the "AC97" dropdown menu is set to StereoMix and the rec gain sliders are up and unmuted. In the "Recording" window the "Master Rec Lev sliders are up and unmuted. The DSP is set to default. This wasn't an issue with the SBlive 5.1. Did I forget something? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

PS: This is an HP Pav with Vista Prem 32bit
