Sad live laptop

Hi. I am planning to buy a laptop and would gadly like to use the kx project solution. It would be the cheapest. First idea I got was to buy a very first of the SBLive! cards, fit it into an external case and then connect it to laptop. Then I heard about the incompatibility of PCI technology for desktop PCs (the one that this card uses) and PCMC tech of laptop.
What would be the solution?

Is there any adapter?(SBLive!(PCI)>adapter>laptop(USB port for example)
If yes, then would this work error-free?

Is there any cheap external kx-compatible card that would use USB (or any other port)?

My goal is LOW ASIO LATENCY that kx offers and joystick port as midi interface. Also line-in(s) and -out(s) are also quite welcome

Thanks to anyone who can help me. It is really needed because I have lots of international gigs coming thru europe, but have no money yet to buy those fancy Laylas and Pulsars

SBLive on laptop

hello, i think there is an solution, but it is expensive. there is a box, called PCI2GO. but the price is around 1000€ and for this you will get a very good firewire-soundcard. for interests, look at this site. http://www.hacker-technology.com/32935/32962.html some month ago, i had the same idea, but not for this money. regards, gerald

extigy

Thanks, Gerald.

What other USB-ASIO(lowlatency) card would you suggest? The cheapest ever

I had an idea to use SB extigy with kx but it is not yet compatible because it is not 10k1/10k2-based card.

message to KX people: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.... make it compatible... Since it's qualities are based on software it is very dolerant for enhancement. I know you would have to rebuild lots of things and that makes me hard to beg you but...
please-please-please-please etc........

Thanks LOW, thats really useful and cheap solution. If it supports 5ms ASIO latency then I really plan to buy it. I requested details about latency from tech support.
Also I hope laptops joystick port can handle the midi cable and have drivers. My goal is to use softsynths live.

But...
one stereo asio input would be VERY nice... (for vocoding and FXing some other live instruments sometimes...

also check out www.tascam.com for the us122 . its a usb device . you need a good usb port for this thing but i think
its 12ms . i personaly use the us428 and i am realy happy with it ( intel mobo ) . i think u must check the combo out at a local dealer under "real" situations . other solutions are realy more expensive ( rme)

echo indigo

thanks Low-is. The echo indigo is almost there. The price is perfect and the 2ms asio latency is also great. It is quite hard not to order this product. Only input... that frustrates already because I'm in love with this extremely economic solution. Is there anything as simple as echo indigo with an asio input? Nothing else is needed.

Does anybody else know an usb device for laptop with a single stereo output and input (ASIO)? As cheap as 100-150$
