Help with recording/playback kx + VISTA
Hi, I just upgraded to vista and installed kx...what a nightmare. Finally I got sound to work, but now I'm trying to set up recording. But first I'd like to solve this problem:
I clear the DSP and open a prolog and epilog only. If I draw a connection between the top 2 connectors in prolog and the top 2 in epilog, shouldn't a guitar hooked into the mic port generate sound? I have unmuted the mic in the mixer, set the AC97 source to mic but still can not hear playback. using the latest 3544a. Also didn't work with 3539. Sound card audigy 2 zs (sb0350) Thanks for any help. |

Did you un-check the swap front/rear speakers? kX uses rear out by default, doesn't it still?

you need to goto kX mixer - AC97 page and select MIC in the AC97 Source dropdown - then on the INS & OUTS page - unmute and adjust the AC97 level slider.
edit: in addition to what peate said /edit |

Is your MIC connected to the rear of the sound card, or is it connected to a drive bay input (i.e. Audigy Drive)?
If it is connected to the rear of card, then what you have done should work, if it is connected to a drive bay, then you need to use the Line2/Mic2 slider on the 'Ins and Outs' page, instead of the AC97 slider (and the Line2/Mic2 pins on prolog) Last edited by Russ; Aug 7, 2008 at 09:13 PM. |

Thank you all for your prompt responses.
@peate: Yes, have done so. @Maddogg5: Yes, as per my original post, I have chosen mic as source and unmuted it. @Russ: It is connected to the back (direct input to the card). Going to keep at it tonight. Another question: can I set the Master Mixer to the default in Vista? Thus being able to use FXBus 0/1? Because Wave 4/5 doesn't allow Ins, only Outs (does that make sense?). |

Problem solved. Actually it wasn't a problem with the software at all, instead a hardware one. It figures my 1/4" - 1/8" adapter had gone screwy, as soon as I jiggled it a bit my guitar was making noise. I feel embarassed.
Thanks for the help though guys. |
