no signal reaching sx or guitar rig3

hi there,
i installed kx3541 on my system a week ago to get rid of the latency issues i was having with asio4all.
while the audio playback from the likes of winamp is excelent i can only seem to get a clear tone from my guitar through cubase sx, guitar rig 3 and an small prog which uses sreamed input called guitar fx box. in fact i'm not sure the signal is even reaching cubase, as i can't see any input on the meters.

i have tried a fair few different configs in the dps and several routing options including many suggestions which seemed close to my problem on the forums.
when i disconnect the two cables from ac97 to the routing block i lose my guitar signal completely.
i'm running kx3541 on xp pro through anSB022xa soundcard. i have deleated the old creative bits n bobs using driver cleaner. but it doesn't seem to have changed anything.
your help would be greatly appreciated as i'm running out of walls to smack my head off. if i can provide any more info you might need please feel free.

Then ask maybe more specific questions... alot depends on your DSP config, start off by making one that is known to work - ala -

A newbie guide on kX's (DSP) concept or "How to setup your DSP".

Also, your card is a 5.1 model so make sure that you read the info on the ASIO mapping issue, in the guide on setting up Cubase SX (see the link Maddogg6 posted).
