It sounds as though the file is not being saved as plain text, try saving the file as plain text (with the extension .txt), and then after saving, rename the file to .reg (you may have to set Windows to NOT hide file extensions for known file types in order to correctly change the extension).

Another option is to export ANY key in the registry using regedit. Edit that file, and replace the text in that file with the text here, and then save using the save button (not save as).

clausvp is on a distinguished road

Did all the uninstall and clean up with driver cleaner pro, and the driver works great now. However, the problem of the crackle and dirty sound I had with the Creative drivers still persists. Do you know what can be done to reduce it to the minimum (at least)? Itīs unbearable and itīs the main reason why I switched to kx... Thanks once again!!!

Try moving your card to a different PCI slot.
Set your your Processor scheduling for background services (Windows Performance options -> Advanced).
Try different PCI latency settings.
Defrag your hard drive.
Take a look at the following for more info on optimizing your system for audio:

What type of computer/motherboard do you have?
If you have the VIA 686B chipset, take a look at the following links:
