x4 and div4-when to use
Greetings,
I have noticed on some threads that with certain effects users are advised to use: x4 -> some effect -> div4 Can someone explain when, where and why you need to use this combination? Thanks, Doug W |

It is the APS Compressor/Expander plugins (that is all I can think of at the moment). Those plugins use level detection, but do not account for the fact that kX uses Div4 levels in the DSP, so without the x4 plugin, they detect the wrong level (and thus would not work as expected). The Div4 plugin is needed after it, to bring the level back down to the normal DSP level.

BTW: (IIRC) The "Noise Gate 2T" plugins also fall in this category.
