Volume control with logitech keyboard

Hello and Merry Christmas to all of you

I used to have a Logitech cordless elite Bluetooth keyboard. With that keyboard, combined with the setpoint drivers, volume control and multimedia keys worked fine.

Following a full PC upgrade, I also changed the keyboard for the Logitech MX 5000 with the latest setpoint drivers and kX drivers (I had the previous version before). But now the volume control isn't working anymore (well not exactly - I'll come right to the point soon). All other media keys are working.

On thing I noted, is that it actually works - for the other sound card (there are two sound cards in the system). Although the Sound Playback device is set to kX Wave SB0360 10k2 [e880] 0/1, I noted that the volume affected by the keyboard control was the SoundMax (onboard) "Master Volume" from its playback list.

When selecting the kx Wave in the Mixer device in windows volume control I note that you cannot adjust volume for Playback (i think it was the case before the current version of kX, although I might be wrong). You can only adjust volumes for Recording or for Other: Master Mixer. Maybe the fact that the logitech keyboard cannot control the volumes is that it does not recognize other devices than the default playback device.

Any ideas how I could get this to work? Anyway, on my side I'll try to rollback to the previous driver to see if it's a new issue with those or linked with the new keyboard.

Thank you for you suggestions.

Just to do a quick test, I uninstalled 3539 and reinstalled 3538m. In the older version, the volume controls are under "playback" and not "other: master Mixer".

Without great surprise, it is now working again.

Is there a reason why the volume controls have been moved from one category to another in the windows sound control interface?

Yes, this is a known issue with 3539, you can either disable Logitech's MM keyboard support (i.e. iTouch) and use kX's instead (of course you may lose some functionality doing this), or just use 3538m.

Yes, I'm going to stick with with 38m for the moment. Note that I tried to disable the touch functionalities on the keyboard and used the kX ones, but it didn't solve the issue with 3539.

I guess that putting back the master under the playback category might solve things (just a guess).

Anyway, thank you for your help.

Did you enable kX's multimedia keyboard support? In any case, most of the changes between 3538m-3539 are related to Vista and the a2zsnb, so it is not so bad sticking with 3538m for now.

Right, there was some changes made to the mixer for Vista compatibility, and Eugene had mentioned that he gotten a little lost in all the KS Topology naming stuff, and that seems to be the issue (although he mentioned that he was not sure that he could fix it and retain Vista compatibility, so I guess we will have to wait and see).
