It sounds as though you really do not want a mixer (i.e. discreet output = no mixing), but rather just one big multi-channel volume control plugin (with built in level meters, etc). There is nothing like this currently in kX (AFAIK)...
As for the old ProFX:SRC (with AC97 sources), you did not lose anything, the AC97 sources were just moved to ADC. It is exactly the same, except it (ADC) works better and has more features. BTW: ADC does NOT give you 2 mono AND 1 stereo, it is 2 mono OR one stereo (not taking into account UDA options). |

ok thats easy enough to swallow. This seems like it would be very complicated and difficult to accomplish, and still not have what I am really looking for.
This puts me in a situation where I am very much depending on a few things for this all to work as well as I am needing it to a. When something is mixed on a board for a venue, not so much a studio, It really sounds a world different. This is why I was looking to jump in in front of the mix and/or take hot inputs from the board itself and working with each in the mastering process. b. Group things together IE Drums on one set of channels, Bass on one set, Guitar on another and vocals on yet another. I will have to see if that is even practical. Again thanks for letting me bounce ideas off of everyone. It's been very helpful in understanding what I can really use all this for without having to bang my head too much : ) |

Well it is still possible to do it using separate vol plugins and peak plugins in the DSP, etc. it just wont be as easy/pretty as some of the bundled mixers.

I am reading this and other threads about adding more inputs to the audigy cards, great info.
My understanding is: - audigy card with the livedrive extension gives 6 mono inputs (line on the card, line2 and aux2 on the drive) - audigy card (with no drive) can have 4 mono inputs, line + aux_in on the card. Now, how about both of those together? Does that mean I can get 8 mono inputs out of one card if I can find livedrive somewhere? And if that works, how many spdif inputs will I still have available? CD_SPDIF for sure, how about the others? I think I should still have all of them available, if I can reach them, since the drive plugs into the EXT pins. I want to put 2 or 3 cards and get as much inputs as possible. I know I can get 10 with 3 cards based on reading here. with live drive on the master card, can I get more than that? Regards, Frank |

I think the only way to get more than 10 is to do what dj_stick was talking about a few posts back in this thread and incorporate the I2S inputs. This involves building analog to I2S converters per TravelRec.
When you use the Audigy drive the ribbon cable will cover all the pins in the AUD_EXT or AD_EXT header and the only way to utilize those pins that the drive doesn't need would be to: 1. figure out which if any of the S/PDIF ins are not used by the drive 2. Cut the ribbon cable there to intercept the right wires and make new connectors to be used by your other input sources. If you are handy with electronics, I think the slickest way of getting a whole gaggle of inputs would be to build some analog to S/PDIF and analog to I2S converters per TravelRec: kX-project support site by TravelRec.
