directshow interface

I use DirectShow interface for recording via Windows Media Encoder.

I dont understand 2 things

1. The Line-in slider in AC97 panel doesnt have any influence on recording.

2. I can Unload all things in DSP panel, the only thing I need is Epilog.
You say that one needs Prolog for Inputs, and I would assume it needs to be connected to Epilog...
But it doesnt need to be connected...I am confused...

Thanks for explanations...

1. That's because this slider is only for the playback volume of line in. And it is related also to the AC97 slider in INS AND OUTS page of KX Mixer. 2. Line in goes straight to rear output, no matter what you do, if you have selected LINE IN as recording device in AC97 page of mixer. Is that what's happening?

Max M. will become famous soon enough

1. It shouldn't (sliders on this page are just for monitoring of ac97 inputs with ac97 output only)

2. Epilog acesses phisical inputs directly in case of plain mme recording (incl. directshow)... You need prolog to be connected only for asio recording...

(oops, i have not seen daniel's reply, anyway...)

Do I correctly understand

1. The Line in slider is just for monitoring ?

in Help you describe under Inputs:
" Line
Line-In input level (stereo). Typically accessed through a 1/8" stereo jack at the rear of the card."

Maybe it would be helpful to rephrase little bit the help...

2. The whole DSP mixer cannot be used in MME (incl. DirectShow recording) ?
again I went through the docs and help and forums several times and didnt get it....

Thanks a lot for claryifing this

1. Yes Pavels. But that doesn't mean you can't record Line in signals. You can. If you're recording trhough MME you'll need the AC97 fader up in the INS AND OUTS pages, LINE IN selected in the drop down list in AC97 page and recording volume for AC97 turned up in REC page (considering you have kx dsp set as default). 2. Yes, you can connect anything between prolog's 0 and 1 outputs (the AC97 signal shows up here - LINE IN signal is here) to any effects and route then to the place prolog was connecte to xrouter before.

Ok DirectShow (MME) recording works fine.

1. Can I record more than just 1 stereo input through DirectShow/MME ? If yes can someone post a setup ?

2. The peak meter doesnt seem to work correctly. How to set it up for fo DirectShow/MME recordimg.

3. Can someone, please, post a picture how to setup it up so I can have an effect/equalizer before DirectShow/MME recorder.

Thanks a lot for help.
