3539 released
hello,
3539 is finally out! changes: * improved a2zsnb support * added ASIO support for Vista (x86 ONLY) * several minor fixes developer note: The driver no longer links against debugging libraries, legacy DSP effects and plugins might not work without recompilation! MFC42D and MSVCRTD no longer required. known issues: 1. hardware-related * digital noise/beep instead of audio playback (PCI bus-related) - since 2001... on certain PCI chipsets only. solutions: try to disable/enable the device (don't forget to close kX Mixer first!); try 'kxctrl -rv'; try to play any MIDI file for some time; reboot * Line3 (AUX) may be too noisy on A2PlatinumEx (undocumented initalization) solution: try to disable/re-enable the driver in the device manager (don't forget to close kX Mixer) * sysex is corrupt if it is too long I tried to reproduce this problem: MIDI-In is working properly, MIDI Out seems to be buggy. don't know if I can fix this soon 2. OS-Specific issues * NO x64 support (Vista x64 and WinXP x64) * NO support for AC-3 stuff in Vista (please check, I'm not sure...) * Vista mixer controls are not working properly. Please don't use them. kX Mixer might be missing certain sliders. You can unassign all mixer controls and use kX Mixer instead of Windows Vista Mixer. Or just ignore kX Mixer controls and use Vista mixer instead * for better audio quality, set Vista audio format to stereo, 48000, 16 bit (for non-HQ devices) 3. known a2zs notebook issues * there might be an audible click when starting audio playback and for every MIDI note - no solution * there might be constant noise instead of audio playback: solutions: disable/enable the device in the device manager; or: reboot; or: kxctrl -rv * certain PCMCIA controllers are not compatible. please review Creative labs site for details * all audio inputs and outputs (including digital) should work * AC-3 functionality was not fully tested. please report your thoughts on this * XTRAM DSP effects can produce audible noise. This is caused by BIOS setting (HLT instruction to keep the CPU idle) - solution: disable this in BIOS this driver version does NOT support (as 3538 and previous ones...): * EAX 2.0 * 24/96 ASIO * WaveHQ device (24/96) playback/recording on p17v (a2value, a2zsnotebook) - it was errornously enabled in 3538, but since p16v and p17v are different chips, no support is currently available (it didn't work in 3538 anyway) * E-mu 1820-like hardware * passthru on 10k1-based devices --- finally, download link: iFolder.ru Áåñïëàòíûé õîñòèíã ôàéëîâ - õðàíåíèå ôàéëîâ, îáìåí ôàéëàìè ÷åðåç èíòåðíåò (ôàéëîîáìåííèê). installation notice: - uninstall any 3538 version first. if you have any setting files, save DSP configuration separately, since some of the settings are no longer compatible with previous 3538 builds. this is IMPORTANT! ![]() ===== new 3539 bug report thread -- please use IT instead of this thread for bug reports: ===== ARCHIVE ===== previous build: 3538m released - 3538m previous build: 3538l released - 3538l previous build: 3538k release - 3538k 3538l, 3538k, 3538j bug reports: 3538l bug reports 3538m bug reports: 3538m bug reports any build prior to 3539 is no longer supported E. |

E., I can't see any link to the driver download, once I click on the link you gave to the Russian site.

The file is actually there but you need to jump through a couple of hoops to get it. If you translate the page (AltaVista - Babel Fish Translation), you will see that the bandwidth (from foreign traffic) for the site was exceeded, and it tells you that you need to visit one of the sponsors in order to download the file.

Thanks E.

Thanks Johnny1982!! That did it for me. I don't have the Google toolbar, so can't translate the page.

The driver works under Vista almost the same as 3538m (with my hardware). I still can select 5.1 sound in surrounder and i hear sound from all speakers, but software like winamp, games etc... see only stereo and kx is only upmixing my sound from stereo to 5.1. By the way with this new driver i can't press "configure" in vista sound properties, so i can't change speaker setup.
After that everything works great. If someone have any idea how can i set the driver to work in true 5.1 mode i'll be happy to use this driver. Thanks for any reply. P.S. I posted this in the bug report also.
I uninstalled 3538m and tried to install 3539 with no luck. When it gets to the driver install page I click install and get an error screen. I uninstalled 3539 and reinstalled 3538m and it installs fine. Uninstalled 3538m and tried to install 3539 and same error screen. I uninstalled 3539 and reinstalled 3538m and I'm back to were I was. @silvertones
What was the error you got? If it was that it could not detect any kX compatible hardware (or something like that), make sure that Windows re-detects your card before installing 3539 (do a "Scan for hardware changes" in Device Manager after uninstalling 3538m). |

After uninstalling 3538 I reboot so that win redetects. I double cloick on the .exe file and the app. loads but when i go to install the drivers it says "error installing drivers"
As mentioned I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3538m with no trouble so It's not my method. Could the file be corrupted. I got it from Johnnys link. Can't read Russian. Last edited by silvertones; Aug 26, 2007 at 04:15 PM. |

Ok, I was hoping for a less generic error message.
Maybe something with Win2K? Any other Win2K users have any problems? I suppose that is possible, maybe try re-downloading it, or if you PM me your email address, I could send you the one I used (if you want). Last edited by Russ; Aug 26, 2007 at 04:32 PM. |

no, it can't be broken download.
because he said - "...i click install..." the download is just packed files in one exe. install screen comes after finishing unpacking and starting setup.exe. if it can be unpacked without errors - then probably the problem is somewhere else.... try installing 3538m, and then install 3539 without removing 3538m. this works for me fine, the setup resets all configurations by itself anyway. |

Yeah, I didn't think it was going to make a difference, but I figured it could not hurt to try. I am still wondering if other Win2K users have had any problems... Did you try skipping the install driver part, and then run kxsetup from the kX directory to install the driver, or try manually installing it (i.e. update driver in Device Manager and browse to kx.inf, etc)?

Installation fails on Windows 2000. Driver now entirely compiled with msvc2005, some backward compatibility may be broken. Not only exe files trigger error, but the kx.sys itself.

Looks like W2K is going to be a no go at this point. Based on the changes I don't think I'm loosing anything anyways.

Looks like PE-format broken for win2k loader.
I managed to fix this! If you know how to edit PE-file header, you can fix it too: OS version 6 .0 Image version 6 .0 Subsystem version 5 .1 All you need is to change this fields to 5.0 in every .exe, .dll and .sys. win2k is version 5.0 and refuse to load such *new* files. Files are located here "%Program Files%\kX Audio Driver\3539" --PS: but there is missing import funtion in KX.sys from NTOSKRNL.EXE, the _CIsqrt (possibly others), so, driver needs to be recompiled. 8( Last edited by ONjA; Aug 28, 2007 at 11:18 AM. |

Bah! After about an hour of messing around with that russian site I finally managed to download the installer. The link given by Johny1982 keeps giving broken downloads.
Here is a working, no ads, no wait, no BS download link.... sheesh kxdrv3539-full.exe |

Vista bug fix
Hi
Thanks for the amazing driver, Eugene! I've really been waiting for it since Creative announced that they wouldn't be making new drivers for SBLive for Vista (and may they burn in h*ll!!! ).However, I found a bug (in Vista): it seemed that the right channel copied itself to the left, so that both speakers recieved the right channel. However, I fixed that. If you've got the same problem, read on: First, I right clikced on the sound icon in the tray and clicked on Playing Devices. Then I set all of the playing devices to stereo, 16 bit, 48000 hz (click on device, properties, advanced). I don't think that's the trick, but I better descripe it, as I'm not sure. Then I set the Wave Out 4/5 as the primary/standard device (instead of 8/9). That's it.. |

Are you sure it's set on 4/5? If I try to set 4/5 or 6/7 it always goes back to 8/9 as soon as I close the window.

Tried setting it to Master Mixer? That's what it's on here and no problem, though I'm only using stereo speakers. Audigy2ZS, 24bit 48kHz setting.
