??? CPU %100 / %20 Ram used

When I start playing a VST midi instrument in Cubase or Cakewalk it starts to slow down and the CPU level goes to %100 but the ram is not being used. This stated when I installed kx 3531. I am not sure the kx drivers are the reason and I love them so I want to keep using them. (Great tools guys Thankyou)

Anyone experience this? I'm using a P4 2000 mhz with 1.56 Gbs of sdram, Audigy and XP SP1.

Thanks in Advance!!

VST instruments are really CPU power related (although some rely heavily on RAM also). Check out what latency you're using in KX ASIO. If you increase the latency, the CPU usage will go down. 10ms is good enough for VST instruments, but even 20 will work fine. Higher than 20 you'll notice delays and lower the 10ms you will get high CPU usage.

It doesn't seem to matter what the latency is set to.

Thanks for your reply.

It has seemed to stop doing this on it's own. Strange.

Does anyone know what the minimum required components necessary for basic stereo or quad in the DSP?

I would like to learn this a peice at a time and also I have always tuned a systems tone before adding any effects into the loop.

Thanks alot for making this.

Maybe you have some program sitting on your system's try that is (or was) interacting with KX drivers...

Nothing in the systray, including themes, screensavers, internet, utilities. XP was/is just not utilizing the ram. 1300mbs of free ram and a P4 2ghz hitting %100 at 21.33 latency. It was just doing it again. I'm going to defrag it and try some reg tweaking.

If you think of anything else please let me know.

Could it be a memorey leak? I am not even sure what that means but what I read kinda seamed simmular.

Thanks again

Are you using an onboard or off-board system (ie you have a separate video card or a built in one)?

It has a ATI 9700 Pro and a SB Audigy on a Biostar M7TDB with built in sound which I have disabled in the bios.

Thank you for your help on this.
