Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

for 24/96 playback - via Wave HQ... you only need to understand;
1) the P16V *device* is what makes 24/96 playback possible - considering the 10k2 DSP is still locked in at 48Khz. The P16V device 'bypasses' the 10k2 DSP
2) the P16V *plugin* is what allows use to 'force' wave HQ into the kX DSP - we can add 48Khz kX DSP effects on top of 24/96 playback this way..but whats the point?? IMHO - if your looking for 'quality' - imo using Wave HQ - your better off using software effects instead of kX effects.

BUT for Mp3 playback - which is severely lowered in quality just because its MP3 (lossy compression) - you may as well just use kX Wave XX (non HQ) and add all the kX DSP effects that sounds good on your system (EQ etc..)

For instance - I dont like how most would 'upmix' stereo to multiple channels... So, I made my own kX DSP config for this (I have multiple configurations btw), instead of using any 'software' upmix plugins.

Wave HQ playback is capable of multichannel - BUT - we dont have control over *what* outputs - the choice to do this in the kX 24/96 Router doesn't work. (you can only connect or disconnect the 10k2 DSp or the P16V from the outputs) So - wave HQ playback - stereo comes through the 'front' speakers only - 'front' is selectable from kX Mixer MASTER page tho - with 'Swap Front <> Rear' switch.

So - all that makes kX really great (kX DSP) - wave HQ playback bypasses it by design.

The rest is like asking for you to find me a wife.... theres no accounting for taste - and requirements (what speakers/amp/content you have etc..)
What sound best to me - may not for you / with your equipment - acoustical environment etc..

System Specs

most MP3 files are 16bit, so 24bit is useless for that, for the best quality keep your soundcard level at maximum output, other than that, there's not much to do in kX
