Audigy optical out

I have an Audigy 1 platinum. I have a miro tv card running into the aux in and a line out to my stereo. I have output from that source and from MP3 player on the PC to the stereo. I also have output from the headphones on the Audigy drive. The optical out looks active ( red light in cable ) but the minidisc recorder Sony JE 520 says it can't decode the signal. Changing the sampling rate through the kx driver doesn't help and the Sony is meant to cope with 96k signal anyway.

What settings should I have on the driver to get the optical out to work? It has worked previously on old SB drivers so its probable the hardware is ok

Audigy optical out

Thanks but that didn't make any difference. MD still can't deal with the optical out signal

unfortunately, we don't have any optical-capable hardware to test optical ins and outs

could you please check if connecting optical in to optical out [on your livedrive] creates a loopback
[note: on the 'ins and outs' page the 'optical' input might be called 'coaxial', while 'optical' doesn't affect the signal at all]

also, try resetting the settings by unload kX Mixer, deleting the \HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\kX registry entry and rebooting your PC

Audigy optical out

Thanks for the response. I can connect the optical out to the optical in but how do I test that to see if there is a loopback?

open kx dsp
unload the xrouter, x_summ, surrounder, timbre/eq
now connect 'fxbus 0,1' to 'epilog.generic spdif out L,R' (they represent optical/coaxial spdif outputs)
then, connect 'prolog.coaxial l,r' to 'epilog->recl, recr' [later try prolog.optical L,R]

now, start any audio playback and, simultaneously, audio recording (via two different applications)

if the loopback is active, you will get your played back audio recorded

you can connect a 'Peak' plugin to the prolog instead... (thus, you won't need a recording application).

Big Grin digitally mastered

Hi Eugene,

at first let me thank for the great and always fresh drivers!
I have more often fresh drivers than fresh milk

Now about my testings concerning the digital connections:

I've used an
Audigy1 Platinum Ex
Sony MD Walkman MZ-R30

Unfortunatly I dont own a digital/optical cable for setting up this loopback
U mentioned. But I can connect the Livedrive to the MD. And voila! It works!
I can adjust volume via Generic SPDIF OUT Slider.
This slider disappears when changing to digitalout only mode. Is this behaviour necessary?
However I can also change the frequency between 44 and 48 kHz. When changing to 96 the
MD says 'no signal' but maybe is cannot handle it.

The second thing I tested was the digital/coax ports.
Here I did set up a loopback. And it worked as expected with all three available frequencies...

Conclusion:
Nice work Eugene!

PS: Let me know if there is anything U want me to test that U are not able to test yourself due
to lacking hardware!

greetz dan.
