Multi-track audio recording w/ KX driver

I use Cool Edit Pro for my audio multi-track recording and never have problems with it. Since I have installed the KX driver to diminish latency in Reason, I now have constant bleed through from the other tracks when I record in Cool Edit. I have tried everything that I know to get rid of it. Can anyone tell me what happened?
- sound card is SB live

Thanks,

Understood, but can you be more specific? I am using KX ASIO. Again, I am trying to pinpoint why the audio from playback is getting onto the recorded tracks when I play/record simultaneously. Is it simply a matter of correctly routing of the ASIO outputs? I have tried various combinations, but I am still a bit of a novice with this driver...

KX ASIO Driver

JasonT,

I have the same problem with the Creative Labs SB Audigy ASIO driver using Sonar 2.2. I cannot record my mic or line in inputs without recording other playback tracks I have in the project. Using the Audigy WDM drivers, I am able to playback tracks and then record my mic on a seperate track with only the vocal on that mic track (but ASIO drivers give me better latency as I use Software synths, so I would like to use an ASIO driver). The other playback tracks are not recorded, but when I use the ASIO driver, I am unable to record the mic track without the playback tracks recording to the mic track as well.

I am here at this forum for information. I am trying to find out if anyone knows if the KX Project ASIO driver will enable me to record a seprate line in or mic input while I playback multiple audio and/or MIDI tracks, and I want to know if just the mic or line in input will record to a seperate track as I playback other multiple tracks. I dont want the playback tracks to be recorded with my vocals. I am attempting to use the mic or line in input to record vocals on seperate tracks as I playback multiple other tracks.

Does anyone know if what I am wanting to do is possible with the the KX Project ASIO driver?

Or maybe ASIO drivers wont allow me to do that. Maybe I will have to record all the audio for my song in Sonar and save it to a .wav file. Then, export the .wav to an audio editing program, (like Wavelab 4),
and record vocals in the wave editing program.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. All input is welcome. Please, somebody shed some light on this matter?

>I am attempting to use the mic or line in input to record vocals on seperate tracks as I playback multiple other tracks. - yes, kX ASIO can do that... (well, and btw. actually Creative's asio driver can do that too - possibly you must be missed something in their mixer)

Max M:

Thanks for replying! Since you replied to my post, I went and tried all my Creative Labs ASIO inputs, and youre right, I'm ablew to record Line in on a separate track while playing back multiple tracks using the ASIO driver!

Thanks a lot for your help and quick response! Thanks a bunch!

my 2 cents

well, one tip i might be able to give regarding the 'bleeding' problem is to avoid the use of asio 0-1. start at 2-3 (or 3-4 if you are using logic, which starts numbering inputs at 1, not 0). using asio 0-1 gives me some weird 'features' like signals being sent to weird inputs, sometimes and sometimes not mixed with other signals. .... and creative has an asio driver? really? maybe i'll try it in a year or so once they start working out the bugs.... *grin*
