Is it impossible to get sound from rears on Live! Value?
Hi!
I'm trying to get my Live! Value (original four channel card without digital output) to play through the rear channels, but I get nowhere. I have tried the four available routings and can't get anywhere. Has anybody managed to do this, or am I just wasting time? I use the latest drivers, I believe, and I have set surrounder to 5.1 (I also tried 4.1) and surround off, and speakers in Windows Control Panel to 5.1 speakers). Hope somebody can help me, thanks a lot in advance!

Which ones?
Does rear play something when surrounder set to spk:5.1 and sur:On?
And copy here info from "kx->about->sw/hw config"...

First: Thank you very much for answering! I had almost given up, but our large neighbour in the East (my wife's from Kirkenes, just about two hour drive from Murmansk) comes through!
I have not managed to get sound from the rears yet, no. I used the 0/1, the 4/5, the 6/7 and the 8/9, the chip is reported as CT4670, and I have tried two drivers both the Value and the generic.
btw it drives me crazy that kX uses some menues I can't see over Remote Administrator! One of those was the About menu. I see the first image (the logo), but not the menu. Is it possible to turn off that effect anywhere?
Here is the info. I also have an Audigy Platinum EX in the same computer, but that's kept to itself since it seems I can't route only front channels to the SPDIF.

OK, now I'm confused. I did a third restore settings (I've tried that twice before), and suddenly I get all sound out of either front or back outputs (depending on if I use switch back and front or not). I tried playing around with the router but that did not seem to change anything. What should be the correct settings?

I've even tried to put the card in another computer (same motherboard - MSI KT4 Ultra) but with Win2K instead of XP Pro, and I got the same problem. No sound on the speaker pair that isn't the "main" (depending on if I switch front and back) and sound from all wave devices on the main speakers.

Like I said in the first post, 5.1 or 4.1 (tried both at both times) with surround off. That should be the correct settings there, I belive. Or am I wrong?

I have sillilar prblem with KX. On SB Live drivers there works fine 4 speakers, but when instal KX drivers, there works only 2 (could only mark to hear rear or front).
I try all the settings in KX and windows, but nothing is seem to work.
KS >Speaker test ! works ! but when playing sound f.e from winamp,
only 2 speakers are active
I like KX, but if it doesn't support 4 speakers on my SB Live Value..

>KS >Speaker test ! works ! but when playing sound f.e from winamp, - this is absolutely normal - typically all the files you are listening (mp3/waves/cd) have only two channels: one left and one right... the normal human behaviour is to listen to two channels via two speakers - let's say front... if you want to duplicate front to rear, or create some kind of "virtual 5/4.1" you have to set surrounder to "copy" or "on"

Max M. thanks for reply...
There is no deifrence when i set on "copy" or "on" surround.
I have try all the settings in sorruond.
Only 2 speakers are active (2 front or 2 rear, not 4 togheter.. ) and this is problem.
It is anoying to play winamp and only hear sound from 2 speakers
Is it KX drivers or settings bad ? If You know how to fix this, and if it possinle to fix, I would be glad..

just check everything once more (it just works) - 1. make sure winamp output is set to kX Wave 0/1 (or its directsound brother - not to Wave 4/5/6/7/8/9). 2. Set surrounder to "SpkMode: 4.1", "Surround:Copy"
