Live! Value with 5.1
I download kX Project Audio Drivers because I was thinking it can give 5.1 audio on my SB Live Value Edition, but when I installed, in the mixer there are only 4 speakers, like originals drivers
I have a CT4832, and in theory it isn't able to send the subwoofer and the center channels, but the hardware on the card IS able, and I thought if it's only a driver problem ...
As you can see on this web called "Live! to Live! 5.1 Hardware Upgrade" http://www.digit-life.com/articles/livetolive51/ the only one different in a Live with 5.1 and without is a byte in an eprom memory, so if the drivers check this, they will think the card can't play 5.1, but, and this is my real question, if kX drivers doesn't check this byte (or regedit values) can use the card like a Live 5.1 ???
I'm not sure if you understand my question, or if my poor english don't let you understand it
Really thanks !!!!!!

Ignore the speakers test page. Go to kx dsp and set the surrounder plugin to 5.1.

And ALL the soundblaster lives (4.1, 5.1 etc) are capable in fact of 8 discrete mono outputs when you use KX drivers without any modification...

I try it, but doesn't work
Thnx, I try but doesn't work
I have a card with yellow, blue, red, green and black conectors in this order. Green and black are rear/front speakers, and yellow must be center+subw (yes?) so i set surrounder to 5.1 but still get no sound from center or subw
To test it better I went to the kx dsp, insert a noise generator, and conect it directly to the epilog, to every conection one by one testing. Both, front and rear, sound when I conected, but nothing happend with center/subwoofer. I conected my center+subw jack to the green conector (for test) and I get sound, so speakers are right
Do u know what am I doing wrong ?
Really thnx! (if I can't get it working right in about a week I think I'll buy a new card )

I don't know about the colors of the connectors, because mine are all gold colored. But you should plug your speakers into the 2 inputs that are nearer to the joystick connector. Are those the one's you're using?

Yep, I use 2 nearer to the joy connector, but the problem is that my sound system is 3 connectors, that is: front, rear and subw+center; and in theory the third goes to the yellow. my connectors order are:
joystick
black: rear
green: front
red: mic
blue: line-in
yellow: this is usually used for digital(?) and subw+center (some friend with live 5.1 use this for subw+center and all goes right, and the manual also say this is the connector for the subw+center)
The problem is that try what I try never get any sound on this connector
Thanks for your patience

on the value cards, the yellow connection is digital only (not sure if it's 4.0 digital or 5.1)
to get the sub/center channel audiable, you must take it from the AUD_EX connector on the card in spdif form, and convert that to analog (using a second soundcard with digital cd in, or make a spdif to analog convertor)
Or use an digital expansion card, creative used to sell those for the live, it's a stripped down version of the livedrive, wich goes in a back bracket slot of your pc. Those have a digital din out for 5.1.
Also, you can try if the normal yellow digital out has 5.1 out if you use a jack to din convertor from creative

I have the same problem.. I have the same soundcard (CT4832 10k1) and when I click the center speaker in the speaker test I get no sound, but when I click the subwoofer I get a very little sound. Is there any solution, I mean, can I get the center channel to work some way?
(sorry for bumping a 5 year-old thread )

your card is NOT 5.1 compatible, unless you use a second DAC for the center/lfe outputs, such as a second soundcard connected via spdif
