ATI Radeon capture and kX drivers
For a while I am using the kX drivers and they are great, exept for one thing: use them in combination with an ATI Radeon 8500DV. With the 'standard' drivers in Windows XP, the ATI wizard gives me the option to configure the soundoptions. When using the kX drivers, audio capturing is disabled completely. Intil now I am forced to use the crappy Windows XP drivers
I already mailed ATI for this, but haven't heared from them yet. Anybody know a solution to get it running with the kX drivers?

You can't configure it through MMC. Just ignore this fact, go into AC97 page of KX mixer and select LINE IN or AUX IN depending where your radoen's audio out is connected. It'll then work to record stuff. To listen to TV, for example, you may have to turn LINE IN or AUX IN faders up in AC97 page and turn on and up the AC97 fader in the INS AND OUTS pages. It works fine for me this way.

Fiddling around with the recording settings is already done. The line-in works (I also have a phono pre-amp connected to it) and I can record from line-in with any wave editor when using kX drivers.
Capturing from RGB/composite devices works fine with a program eg. VirtualDub (audio and video are captured). The main problem is capturing from the TV tuner. When using VirtualDub I only see static because the tuner is not programmed. When I run ATI TV to select a station and try to capture with VirtualDub I get a 'device in use' error (which is actually correct).
What I do now is unloading the kX drivers when I want to capture and reload when I want to do other stuff. I also tried capturing audio with a wave editor and then blend A&V together with editing software. This works, but takes a lot of time.
Today I also got an answer from ATI. They advised me to read the FAQs once again... (great answer guys... like I didn't do that before ).

same here
I have the same problem with my AIW RADEON. When watching TV I can hear the audio fine, but when I record, the audio is not recorded. The kX Mixer setup is not the issue.

Same here with a totally different TV tuner card. I guess it's just up to how the recording software is programmed, needing access to the regular windows components for their audio settings. With kX the software just can't see any source. I guess this would take much remodeling of the kX drivers to change, right?

You can record anything that you can hear in KX: Just go to the DSP window, and conect the lines you want to record to the inputs RecR and RecL, in epilog plugin. Thats all. It's only that default DSP configuration is not wired to record from any "analog" input like LineIn.
Of course, if you make this, you can record from your TV program

you can set in the record window to record "Wave" which is the stereo mix sent through the front speakers

I have a AIW card too.
Instead of using MMC, I use Windows Moive maker to record program and it just works fine.

i'm sure that would work, but i'd like to have an 'all in one' solution. also, i'd like to use the tv on demand feature.

obviously Kx authors have no interest in fixing this, or perhaps they do not have an ATI capture card to work with? Either way it has been years without any progress, perhaps a conspiracy involving payola. Lots of excuses are available however.

the way the drivers are hard-coded prevents programs that force control over MMC, re-coding it will take a lot of time, and most likely reduce functionality
