Report on Upgrade to Vista
Against conventional wisdom I performed an in-place upgrade to Vista Ultimate. (Outlook 2000's evident incompatibility compelled the installation of Office 2003 and all is well; some problems surfaced with CorelDraw X3 Graphics Suite, almost all of which have been resolved.)
I was running my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum /kX driver 3538m & Cambridge Soundworks FPS 2000 speakers on Wxp prior to the upgrade.
It all works on Vista! The functions I have checked out: Audio CDs, mp3s in Winamp & Media Player, DVD soundtracks on PowerDVD 6 [which unaccountably seems to work normally as well], and audio to a COMPRO TV card.
Can record 'live' from Audio Cleaning Lab 10.
The LiveDrive is supporting completely normal Headphones, which correctly mute the speakers, also Aux In 2 and SPDIF In/Out. All clean.
I haven't measured anything, but subjectively my impression is that A2ZSP + kX3538m sounds as overwhelming superb on Vista as it did on Wxp.
Endless gratitude to EG & such good luck to other Vista migrators.
