Hy guys!
This is my first post here, so please be patient with me . I have installed Win VISTA Ultimate and of cource my soundcard ( Audigy 4) with the creative drivers ( beta ) was not working, so i come to kx project site and dl this driverpack. It works..but not that well for my taste so i've been playing with the settings a little bit and i succeding in make it to work in full 5.1 audio support kxrazvan-vistasettings.kx Here are my settings for the kX DSP module and i can tell u that now it works just fine I'm still waiting for a kx project driver pack full compatible with VISTA |

SPDIF is badly broken here in Vista, are you aware of that Eugene?
All I get is a terrible sound burst. |

Hi.
Just wanted to say that the 3538m driver works perfectly for me (I have a creative live! soundcard) on Windows Server "Longhorn" Beta 3 Build 6001.16510.070417-1740. Thank you very much, Mr. Gavrilov, sir. |

Just reporting a Vista success story. My Audigy2ZS was not doing quite well enough with official drivers so I gave the kX a chance again after a long absence. I only have stereo speakers so it was easy to set up (remembering the back/forward connector switch setting) and the result was overwhelmingly good. Not only is the overall sound quality improved but even games sound and in some cases even work better. For instance in the driving game Flatout 2 I was sometimes losing individual sounds with the latest Creative driver, but now they're all there and thanks to kX's mixing I have even had success with putting the game in 5.1 mode. kX rewires the sound just fine to my stereo output. And in 24bit 48KHz output too, which gave me small problems in several ways with Creatives driver.
Perhaps Vista ditching hardware accelerated sound is almost a boon for the kX project, as games will now more than ever have to cater for simpler models without advanced EAX effects. Since I'm only playing games/movies/music I don't suffer from any ASIO issues, but my best wishes of success with further Vista driver development! Now I'll just have to re-learn the intricates of the kX DSP, for fun.

Check out the kX Preset Exchange site: http://my.kxproject.lugosoft.com/uploads.php You may find some kX DSP preset there that will work for you. BTW, what Operating System are you using, Windows XP?

Hi,
been using kx for years, everything has been great. just got a c2d machine and running vista 32 bit. installed kx on my sblive 24 5.1 and everything was fine. got a deal on 2 more GB of ram -> 4GB and now i get all this crazy digital static stuttering. pulling out the ram -> 2GB and everything is fine again. using 3538m. i know vista support isn't fully there. any ideas? thanks |

Re: 3538m released
i have the sb live value! oem 4.1 edition (CT4830 on the card) but is detected as a CT4832
im running vista 32bit and was just wondering whats the status with this sound card....i dont have it installed....currently i have a crappy audigy ls with creatives drivers from i think june/july 2007 i could switch to my onboard ac97 ALC850 but i loose EAX2/3 im pretty sure that the sb live value! i have is probably better then my other 2 (audigy LS and onboard ALC850) but i really dont know. im new to this and really wanting spdif out to work (pcm 48khz stereo) and then i put my reciever in surround mode and it dont sound bad.....i would love to have DDL ....i would be so freaking happy. i dont think there willl be DDL for sb live and i dont even really care about 5.1 for movies....i usually watch divx/xvid and all that is downmixed to 128/mp3/stereo usually anyway i just want to be able to game over spdif so as long as pcm 48khz works i would be happy....correct me if im wrong but when using spdif out dont you loose all eax sound effects? |

Re: 3538m released
you won't get EAX at all with kX...
but afaik when using CL drivers SPDIF is identical to the analogue output, there should be no difference in content

so there is no way to get the ct4832 to pass ac3 through the digital out even though this card is really a sound blaster live 5.1 that is only locked out of that mode with a different device identifier in its bios on the eeprom? come on! thats crazy....it should work with kxdrivers and you know it.....the kxdrivers change the bios device identifier in the drivers instead of in the bios.....it should put it in 5.1 mode no problem so come on unlock it please... i mean it already outputs pcm 48khz in vista32 and it dont sound bad....what needs to be done to make it "passthrough ac3"? |

Re: 3538m released
kX does not use the EEPROM for anything other than card identification (i.e. kX works even with cards that have a corrupted EEPROM). It does not lock out any features based on the EEPROM. AC3 passthru is not functional with any 10k1 cards (i.e. including Live! 5.1) in kX due to the reasons stated in the other thread(s).

Re: 3538m released
ok im just not understanding...
from what i read ac3 can be achieved on normal sb live 5.1 cards...with the ac3 passthrough option Quote:
ok my card is a 4.1 card only because the identifier in its eeprom tells the "Software" to only enable 4.1 setttings/features with the "softmod" this is done on the opposite end (in software) telling the software to "go ahead and install the 5.1 software for this card even though it is a 4.1 card" so if my sound card hardware is exactly like a 5.1 why dont i get the ac3 passthrough option like regular 5.1 cards? is this only a vista limitation? i mean if i was in winxp i would see ac3passthrough with the kX drivers and probably the creative drivers right? can someone sum it up why we dont get ac3 passthrough for 10k1 cards in vista when this is a feature of the 10k1 cards? |

Re: 3538m released
kX (all versions) does not support AC3 passthru for ANY 10k1 card, on ANY version of Windows.

Re: 3538m released
ok im not getting it in this picture http://pages.globetrotter.net/samaus...trol_Panel.png it shows him using kx3538 with the CT4832....that is the developer "Tril" of "redocneXk" saying it (DOES) work showing a picture of him using it even....and in that thread he says it does work
idk you say it dont work but in his very guide they all say it does work. i believe you dont get me wrong....but im just wondering what is going on....there is a sb live 5.1 that does have the ac3 decoded off on switch that cerative drivers themself have. so i know its a feature that can and has worked in the past. it looks like it has worked in with kX drivers at one time from what i have read in these very forums with my exact card....maybe not with vista but from what i read it has worked. lets go by what you say....my ct4832 just cant do it....what about the audigy LS or my ALC850....is it possible to have DDL/AC3 encode so i can game in 5.1? if its with someone elses drivers i would hope you would tell me. i dont care whos drivers they are...if i get 5.1 ac3 gaming for the love of god tell me how to do it ![]() |

Re: 3538m released
No, you misunderstand. Tril was just showing example screenshots of how to configure things. That was the only card he had, so that is what he used for the screenshots, but that does not mean that it worked with that particular card (that is one of the reasons why Tril is no longer actively developing redocneXk (because he was never able to actually fully test it himself, which makes development a PITA)).
