spdif sound dynamic decrease

Hi

Two cards EMUAPS and Audigy2. Digital path from APS to Audigy and back to APS.
I've noticed sound dynamic decrease, playing through mentioned digital path.
So PC=>APS_out sound better than PC=>APS->Audigy2->APS=>APS_out

Why?

maybe because of APS->resampling->Audigy2->resampling->APS?
although i'm not really sure i understand what "sound dynamic decrease" is...

are you talking about quality? sound level?
but yes max is probably right, each card you send the sound through also processes it

It's exactly as I said.
I have very well working DSP settings for both cards but in fact it's very complex too.
All streams I always send to APS's analog outs because its D/A are the best. Sometimes I play sound from EMU FXBus0/1 sometimes from A2 FXBus0/1 or from both sources.
It sounds little bit worse when has to go through digital connections. I don't understand why. Have I to use b2b, dither or something else?
I will do more tests today evening.

BTW, I've tried to use FXBusX and epiloglt to experiment with bit-to-bit playback but I can't connect anything to epiloglt. Streams sounds strange from FXBusX, even 48/16.
