kX Project Status (23 Jan'2007)
(UPDATED: 23 Jan 2007)
hi there
long time no see
all my best wishes to those celebrated old/new calendar christmas and new year
--
(previous status - Sep'2006 (more detailed) - here: kX project status (Sep'2006))
--
some news:
1. my x64 and vista development was delayed due to lack of hardware. however, it seems I finally get the PC the next week, so, I'll return to my work on x64 and vista-compatible kX driver I finally got the hardware, will install the OSes shortly. x64 and full vista support is expected in 3539, NOT 3538 final.
2. ALSA has finally released some fixes that enable a2zs notebook analog inputs
I updated kX driver code accordingly - both line-in/mic-in and recording work now in 3538m
NOTE: ALSA has also released e-mu 1010-compatible driver, however at the moment, I do not plan any 1010/0404/1820-related development.
3. I have a list of minor updates/fixes to be done before I release the next build, 3538m
3. except the known issues listed in 3538m release notes, I currently have no objections against releasing 3538m as '3538 final'. I guess, fixing sysex and a2value mapping is not critical, I might do this soon. as soon as I get enough reports from the users with 3538m experience, I will release 3538 final and start working on x64/vista/whatever.
stay tuned
E.

Thanks for the news, Eugene, sounds good! I will try to upgrade to Vista when it's released (officially). I just got myself in a position to be here regularly, again. I got myself a dual core machine, and I'm just about ready to try the 3538l driver with SONAR 6.
Thanks for your work, and not leaving us in the dark with the progress being made relavent to kX. I hope you're having a well new year, and see you around.

Thanks, Eugene! kX forever!
Just one question: Do you think it would be easy now to implement one functional stereo output in the 1010 card? Or the E-Mu cards are a completely differente architecture and the rest wouldn't work anyway?

Stairsteps
it's not a good idea to post bug reports in a 'status' threads. There's separate 'bug reports' node, read/write there please.

Staairsteps:
Make sure you don't have the "metronome during playback", or "metronome during record" button enabled. When the button light is on, that means it's enabled, and that button is enabled by default in SONAR 6.
If you need more help in this matter, start a new thread, so we don't continue to be off topic in this thread.
@Max M. Hi and sorry for being off topic in this thread. And Max, thanks for updating your UFX package to work with 3538l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as always, thanks for the great work, I'll try out the new driver with Traktor tomorrow.
One question, does anyone know is it possable to get ASIO with this setup? 44.1k, 8 out 2 in 16bit? on a audigy 2zs? (not 8 in and 8 out)

ASIO will not have inputs at 44.1k - you need to use 48k
