conect 2 Audigy ZS 2 for output

Hello,

I'm new in the forum and i have a question. I have something readed about the KX driver, but i found nothing about the connection of 2 audigy 2 ZS. So here is my question.

How can i connect 2 Audigy 2 ZS? I will have 7.1 but i will send the output to both audigy cards. This means, i will send from FXBus chanel 1 to output chanel 1 of both cards. In fact i will receive at both cards the same output. Is it possible by the FX driver or must i connect 1 card to the other? If i must connect 1 to the other, how must i do this? I will have at the end 16 chanels of outputs.

Thanks in advance

Rene

This is possible with kX. You will need to connect the 2 cards together with an SPDIF cable like this one:

http://www.cablesnmor.com/digital-cable.html

How are you bringing the inputs into the computer. The 40 pin connector (AD_EXT) at the right bottom corner of the card is where you attach the cable.

Soundblaster Live!, Audigy 1/2 and X-Fi* Pinouts

It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the DSP. It will make all things easier with handling inputs and outputs.

I have connected SPDIF 0 out from card 1 to SPDIF 0 from card 2. But it comes nothing out of the channels from card 2. Ho wmust i connect the chanels in the DSP? Wich plug ins(prologic, epilog...) must i use to send the data out at SPDIF 0 on card 1 and wich plug ins must i use to send from SPDIF 0 in to the speakers?

First you can verify that you have a valid SPDIF connection. When the computer boots up, you will see a little SPDIF icon at the bottom right of your desktop that will appear and disappear. Also you can check the connection by right-clicking the kX manager icon in the bottom right corner.

double click the kX manager so that your kX mixer pops up. The small window in the bottom right corner allows you to choose which card you are displaying. Make sure that the HOST card is selected in your HOST / CLIENT setup.

NOTE: I am using version 3534f on this computer and a CT4830 (SBLive), which will appear slightly different than what you will see with an Audigy and 3537, and later 3538 versions - but similar.

Right click kx Manager
Settings
I/O status

You will get some something similar to what is displayed below. This shows that there is a valid connection coming into SPDIF A.

SPDIF Inputs
spdif A: 2109204 Freq: 47991; R; S;
spdif B: unused
spdif C: unused or same as B
[R-Rate Locked; S-Stream Locked; V-Valid Audio]
I2S Inputs
0: 0 1: 0 2: 0
-----------------------------
Now make your life simpler by installing ProFX

ProFX for 3534f and 3538L can be downloaded here:

http://members.home.nl/nahutec/ProFx/profx3x.htm
Read the whole webpage before going on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I like to unzip ProFX and other plugins into my 3534 folder.
Then load the ProFX plugin

You must create a DSP in your CLIENT card that routes your SPDIF connection out. I find that the easiest thing to do is to is go to the DSP for your CLIENT card, Right click it and choose Clear DSP

Now load 2 things in the client DSP.
ProFX 2KLT
Waver Generator

Route 2 wires from the wave generator to the top 2 connections in 2KLT.
Now go to your HOST DSP and clear it.
load only

ProFX:SRC
ProFX:Peak4

Wire the source to Peak4

The wave generator in your client DSP is sending a constant signal to your outputs. By changing which output is being used in the CLIENT DSP and which input in the HOST DSP you can figure out which ones will make your SPDIF connection between the two.

This is a good place to start anyway.

Install it

I have now chagend the connection between the SPDIFs, now i have the connection from Host card SPDIF 1 to client card SPDIF 0 and it shows the little wondow woth the SPDIF connect.
But i tried to create the DSP like you have writen, but i have not the functions like you say. I have in the ProFX no "2KLT" and no "PEAK4". I have only "ProFX ADC", "ProFX ASIO"
"ProFX MX6", "ProFX Src" and "ProFX kXlt".

I have crete the wave generate to output channels and i hear the sound from the wave generator, but nothing others.

What do i not corrrect? What is the "SPDIF0" in the source plugin? I cannot find this.

I will look on my computer upstairs where I have 2 Audigy 2 Zs hooked together. But just use ProFX Src, ProFX kXlt and there is a PEAK plugin.

ADD Effect Plugin -> Basic -> Peak

Now i have changed on the client card from SPDIF 0 to CD SPDIF and i can hear now something on the client card. But it is not complete the 5.1. Is it possible that the CD SPDIF no 5.1 haves? But wich source must i set in the DSP to use the SPDIF 0 in?
I have read something in other thraets, is it neseccary that i must have a bridge on pin 25 to 35 at the AD_EXT that i can use the SPDIF 0?

Each SPDIF carries 1 stereo pair. If you want more than that connected from sound card to sound card, you will need more SPDIF cables.

I made a mistake above when I said that I had 2 Audigy 2 ZS hooked together. I have an Audigy 2 ZS (Client) tied to an Audigy 1 (Host)

I am not sure, but I am headed upstairs to that other computer and I will let you know what I find out.

I have heard something like this before but not had to do it. I will check upstairs to see if I am using SPDIF 0.

This is what I know

Here are my current SPDIF Inputs/Outputs

Host Card = Audigy 1 SB0090 (Aud_Ext) connector
Client Card = Audigy 2 ZS (Ad_Axt) connector

Client SPDIF3 Out - pins 27, 28 (Digital Rear) -> Host GP_SPDIFIN#2 - pins 5, 6 (ZVideo I2S In)

Client SPDIF2 Out - pins 31, 32 (Headphones Out) -> Host GP_SPDIFIN1 - pins 15, 16 (Coaxial/Optical SPDIF In)

My CD_SPDIF in on the Host card does not seem to be working now, it was working before however. I believe I had it hooked up

Client SPDIF2 Out - pins 15, 16 (Headphones Out) -> Host CD_SPDIF connector (CD_SPDIF In)

Still am not sure about SPDIF 0 Out from pins 9, 8

---------------------EDIT---------------------
I hooked another SPDIF cable From the Audigy 2ZS to the Audigy 1 CD_SPDIF and now that one is working.

I also made a correction to SPDIF2 Out pins

Note: for the Client SPDIF0 Out, the ground pin 7 is above the SPDIF0 OUT pin so you must connect that pin 90 degrees with respect to the other cable connections

pin 07 * * Pin 08
pin 09 * - Pin 10 missing
pin 11 - - Pin 12 (no pins here)

Here are the 3 SPDIF connections:

Client SPDIF0 Out - pins 9, 7 (SPDIF Out/Digital Front) -> Host CD_SPDIF In connector (CD_SPDIF In)

Client SPDIF2 Out - pins 31, 32 (Headphones Out) -> Host GP_SPDIFIN1 - pins 15, 16 (Coaxial/Optical SPDIF In)

Client SPDIF3 Out - pins 27, 28 (Digital Rear) -> Host GP_SPDIFIN#2 - pins 5, 6 (ZVideo I2S In)
