ok maddogg.. i have tested the aux2 and spdif in using a 3.5mm to rca cable connected to the rear output of soundcard and im getting no response in the "peak" on the dsp. Using the diagram you showed me .. so i am close to the conclusion..my hardware is faulty..

thoughts?

Well,
Did you look at all peaks while playing something in winamp using KX Wave as the output device? - you could try FXBuss 4/5 & 6/7 & 8/9 - and set winamps output device to match (KX Wave 4/5 , 6/7, 8/9 respectively)
Did you possibly make changes in the KX router?

Do you hear sound out of the output if you plug in speakers or headphones into the same output that you used for this test?
Is the master volume in KX mixer up?
Is the front / rear / center-LFE up in the KX mixer too?

Did you install KX before or after connecting the LD2 ?? - not sure if it makes a difference or not ..??
Did you get any errors while installing KX?
Did you use driver cleaner to remove left over bits of the old CL driver?

If your *certain* the DSP is configured as I show in that pic...which should send signal to all analog outputs - and you do hear sound if you plug in speakers or headphones to the same rear output as the test - It does seems to indicate theres a hardware problem. Before giving up - you may want to try replacing the cable between the sound card and the LD2 as someone else (Jitipee I think..??) mentioned.

Hi rmb

Just been reading your threads & several others like it, did you ever solve the problem? I have a SBLive platinum 5.1 with front panel & the only thing that appears to work on the panel is the headphones out! I have tried to record using a mic, guitar & also minidisc into the optical in all without result. The optical input shows a red light when I plug the cable in but not a sound can I get!

I have managed to record using the mic input at the back of the pc but this is neither practical nor of good enough quality.

Can anyone else offer any help for a technophobic luddite trying to get to grips with the 21st Century?

Is there a screenshot showing DSP connections to set up the front panel, suitable for a simpleton to understand, after all I wasted my teenage years strumming a guitar not playing with my floppy drive.

I am running xp & Magix Music Studio 6 to record.

The default DSP config should have all the necessary connections, so it is just a matter of adjusting the appropriate controls/sliders in kxmixer to enable/unmute those inputs (Mic2/Line2, etc).

Which sliders would depend on how you are recording (ASIO (Ins and Outs page) vs MME (Recording page)).

For ASIO recording and kX Default DSP - the ASIO input will need to match up with the kX DSP connections from Prolog (physical inputs). In addition to making sure the kX Mixers 'Ins and Outs' page has the input levels set and not muted.

So (with my card - A2ZS) to record Coax/Optical SPDIF I would need to choose ASIO 8/9 in the DAW app.
Line 2/Mic 2 = ASIO 10/11
Aux 2 = ASIO 14/15

Hope that makes sense....
