Troubles installing with Audigy 2 ZS

I've read the directions, but I'm having problems still.

I've uninstalled the Audigy drivers and rebooted.

Now, under the dvice manager, my car shows as 'Multimedia Audio Controller'.

So I run the downloaded 'kxdvr3537-full.exe'. It comes up with the kX splash screen, then onto the Welcome screen. I hit 'Next' and I agree, and I hit next to just install all of the components with the install package. I let it install at 'C:\Program Files\kX Project' and I hit 'Install' then the window comes up with the 'Install kX Audio Driver' box checked. I hit 'Finish' and then I get another splash screen. Here, I hit 'Install', then I hit the check mark in the box to accept, and go through the steps. I'm asked if I have any VST plugins, which I don't, so I hit cancel, then ok that the drivers are installed.

Here I restart (I never got any of the unsigned stuff) and I have nothing. I've tried not restarting and I still have nothing.

I've even tried installing manually and Windows ends up asking for the Creative CD...

I'm sure I've just overlooked some crucial part, but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyone?

It sounds like you are doing it right (except that you should do the final reboot when the kX installer (not Windows) says to do so). Sometimes it does not go right the first time (especially with older versions of kX), so you may want to try it again (Use Driver Cleaner to remove kX and and any remnants of the CL driver... Also check Device Manager in Safe Mode, and make sure that there are no phantom devices listed (i.e. sound card listed multiple times, etc).

Beyond that:

What OS are you using?
There are newer versions of kX available, that adds some new featutes, and supports more models (I am not sure which version is the first to support the A2ZS). Unless your OS is Win98SE/ME, you might try installing 3538L, and see if that goes better for you.

3537 did support my A2ZS iirc, so that shouldn't be the problem

Thanks for the updated link.

I've installed the drivers and noticed a few different screens this time around.

Rebooting per the instructions and everything works a charm!

Thanks a million!

Now onto the wonderful world of plugins and tweaking.

If only I could find an all in one solution that provided the following:

31-band 1/3 octave EQ
Crossovers
ability to map sound card outputs
phase control
time alignment

but I'd suppose that's too much to ask for at this point.

Thanks again!

EQ - non-existent yet
crossovers - present in the DSP effects list
map soundcard outputs - possible using the various kX wave outputs and the DSP
phasecontrol - you can invert the phase 180°, but that's about it
time alignment - there's a plugin that can do that, tinydelay i think it's called, search the forum for it

I am with RED. We are in the same boat. We have a big discussion going on over in the MP3car world. We both compete in car audio SQ contests, MECA, IASCA, USACI and we need all the adjustments mentioned.

One other thing I would like to know...how hard would it be to implement a more advanced crossover? Ability to select crossover order or at least 1st and 3rd order crossover options. My programming skillz are limited so if there is anyone that might be able to make this happend that would be fantastic.

1st order filters give you only 6db/octave slope - it's quite hard to call this thing 'a crossover'.

3st order - well, possible - but... hmm, well, - ok, never mind.
