i've just installed vista rc2. sound is nice, mixer takes 2,5mb ram instead of 33mb in xp.
sound in CSS seems to has improved!? i cant enable multimedia keyboard or it wont work anymore. if its disabled it works fine (vol up/down, mute, >, ||, >>, <<....) |

Great work, but it seems that the bug with the beeping sound (sound hangs) isnt fixed yet. Will it be fixed someday? I have Creative Live! Player 1024.
Anyway, great work, and my respect for thouse who work on this project. Best regards, Shadow_Fi. |

I've tested kx on vista too. using an sb0220. I've run into a few issues:
1. Under Winxp, the kxmixer contains the master volume, the synth and other main volume sliders, under vista, they are gone (i can control the volume from vista's sound mixer). All other sliders are there. 2. With lastest build, the line-in mixer is gone, and i can't control the volume of the tv tuner (i've read about remapping with -ma , but i couldn't find enough documentation on how to do that. 3. When i play back a sound (in winamp), under vista it reports that it's using Software mixer, and it eats up a lot more cpu than under xp (It's the same winamp installation with xp, so the settings ARE the same). How's that under vista there's no Hardware Acceleration ? Will that be changed in future ? There are the 64 separate channels, and it's not using them.. 4. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking time and developing such great drivers. Thanks for taking time and reading this post. |

vista & mixer sliders: open 'compatibility' tab for kxmixer and set it to 'Windows XP'
software mixer: yes. this is a new microsoft 'initiative'... directsound 3d acceleration and hardware acceleration are not supported properly set winamp to 48kHz/16bit (and set Vista to 48/16) E. |

Well, i've read about it. So now the shitty microsux emulates directsound too... maybe the thing, hey, what the hell, the fancy new P4 with 2 gb's ram can handle a little bit of processing ?
Well, anyways, sorry 4 complaining I've set vista to 48/16 but where can i set winamp to that? I'm using directsound plugin, not ASIO. And if i use the existing resample plugins, then those are resampling in software tooI couldn't find the "windows xp" entry under the compatibility tab in kxmixer. |

Just installed the new driver excelent work...finally no more problems with the rear output (speaking for myself, had very many problems with that).Have only one question. Are these drivers working on WinXP x64,or will there be in future, cause i kinda want to move on,change to the 64-bit tehnologie, but the only thing keeping me back is the soundcard, and I can`t waive on it cause my work depends on what KX offers.Keep up the good work....Cheers!!!

After 6 days using the new drivers i`m begining to have huge problems....The soundcards disappear from the software. So here`s what happens:After listening to music for several days with winamp,i open a movie with media player classic, windows media player,or any othe player, and it gives me an error that there is no soundcard installed. The music in winamp is still playing perfectly aftherwords.I look into the preferences of each player and the dropdown box where the soundcards are selected is empty, the same thing accurs in Windows` Control Panel in Sounds And Audio Devices: NO SOUNDCARDS.In winamp the same, but sound comes.I reinstalled my windows, thought that would be the problem, but the same occured today.I have a creative sb022xb since 2 years now, never had ANY problems with KX.I`m really disapointed....waiting for some suggestions.Till then , i`m rolling back to some older versions.

Hmm, that is strange... I would be curious to hear whether or not the problem goes away when you reinstall an older version of the driver. The only things I can think of (at the moment) that might cause such a problem are: The sound card is not seated properly. I have seen cases where a seating problem would cause the card to disappear, but you can still hear audio. When it disappears, does Windows show the card (hardware) in Device Manager? Maybe try re-seating the card in the PCI slot. The only other thing I can think of, is that somethng is messing with the registry and/or Windows services. Are you using any system optimizers, or registry cleaners, or any other software (anti spyware) that deletes registry keys or disables any Windows services? If so, try disabling that software and see if the problem goes away, Also, when the card disappears, see if the Windows Audio service is started. Last edited by Russ; Oct 24, 2006 at 01:38 AM. |

10x for replying.well no i dont use software like that..never did actually. And NO, with the older driver (3535) i`ve been using,i didn`t experience anything like this.i reinstalled the older one sincer i posted the above, since then i didn`t shutdown my pc...and sound is working properly,so i realy don`t get it from where the happenings with the new driver come from!so if you have any more sugestions,i am very eager to hear it.Cheers!

Sorry, I cannot think of anything else at the moment. If you try it again at some point, see if you can figure out how to re-create the problem (i.e. some specific sequence of events that always results with this problem). Also, when the devices disappear, check the Event Viewer and see if there are any problems reported (i.e. maybe a service is having problems (particularly if everything comes back after rebooting)).

When you say it disappears, do you mean that all of the boxes (in Sounds and Audio Devices) are blank? or does it say "No playback device"/"No Recording Device"?
Did you check the Event Viewer? |

Yes I checked the eventvwr.and only today in the morning when i started my pc i found a:The Windows Audio service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).about 5-8mins after windows start.but itzi the only one in 3 days, and lotz of restarts,no other critical warning around there.
And no , the boxes aren`t blank,it says no playback device! Right about now i looked in the sounds and audio devices...thatz 10mins after booting, and no more cards, and also no warnings in the eventvwr! |

Well i looked into the services ,and endeed windows audio is disabled...I restarted it and set the first, second, and subsequent failures to restart service, this is the only solution i know, hopethe constant restart doesn`t mess up the systems functionality.if someone has any ideeas from where this could come from, please let me know.

That can be hard to diagnose, as there can be many causes. I would start by searching the internet for "The Windows Audio service terminated unexpectedly" and see if you can find anything that jumps out at you (i.e. related to some program that you happen to be using, etc).
Keep an eye on the Event Viewer (check both Application and System), and see if there are any other errors that might help you to narrow down the possible causes. Considering that noone else has reported such problems using kX, I would tend to think that kX is not the cause. Have you installed any new software recently? I noticed that you mentioned using Media Player Classic. IIRC, that includes a codec pack as well. Some codecs can be incompatible with other codecs, so that might be something to look into. Boot into Safe Mode, and check Device Manager for any phantom devices (hardware erroneously listed multiple times, or hardware listed that you do not have). A virus is another possible cause, make sure you are using anti-virus software, and that that your virus defintion files are up to date (and scan your system). Try running MSCONFIG, and disable everything on the 'Startup' tab (except for kX), and reboot and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then enable the items one at a time until the problem comes back, and maybe that will help you find the cause. Last edited by Russ; Oct 24, 2006 at 02:38 PM. |

the double-click option is neat! however, it tends to default back to kxMixer each time i reboot (you guessed it, i'd like it to open the dsp instead). i have winxp and uninstalled the previous version (i think it was 3537) before installing the new one, if this matters anyway.

Edit: Nevermind! For vista you have to do speaker setup in kx Mixer rather than windows sound properties.
Drivers work great thanks. The interface, however, is incredibly hard to navigate. You have to hover your mouse over all of the buttons (which at first aren't obviously buttons) and rely on mouse hovers for everything. Last edited by Tom B; Nov 15, 2006 at 05:17 PM. |

Maybe if possible you can include in the next build the alphabet(currently 'l') in the about dialog for easy indentification of the build.

Is it confirmed whether or not these drivers work with Windows XP x64 Edition? I have been having problems with even my Creative SB Drivers for my SB Audigy 2 Value (SB0400 10k2) and decided to switch. When I try to install the kX drivers, after answering ok to the dialog that asks if I want to install the kX software for the SB0400 device, an error that says "Error selecting device" comes up.
Back to my first question, do these drivers work with x64? If so, what am I doing wrong? I have installed the driver but I am getting no sound and my multimedia device is showing up as unknown in device manager. I have attempted to associate the kX.inf file with the device but it says that it won't work (and to make sure the drivers were designed for the x64 operating system). Which again leads me back to wondering if these drivers compatable with Windows x64? If they aren't then this is quite a waste of a post. |

please, use a 'search' function before asking obvious questions. (to answer yours - no, 32-bit drivers don't work with 64-bit windows) |

Unbelievable!! The performance is sky-rocketing.
Iґm running Cubase using a masterband compressor, reflex drumsampler with 4 engines and purity demo playing around 70 voices !! I got 1-4% percent CPU usage on my X2 3800! (Sometimes it even shows 0% ) And by the way: Iґve disabled the Cubaseґs built-in CPU metre, never trust it. Iґve watched the Windows XP CPU -Usage window.Anyway: HOLY COW! Fantastic!!! ![]() ![]() Driver settings: Device: CT4832 10k1 Latency: 4.35 ms (192 samples) Format: 16 Bit / 44.1 kHz (2+0) Sync: User/Timer |

Nice man
Is there any chance this will reduce the 'constant beep instead of music'-problem? I'm quite satisfied with 3537 atm except for having ALOT of that bug, so i was wondering if this was worth the try.. ?And thanks Eugene!
