Possibility of decoding AC3 through another method?

I have an audigy 2 card and the new 3538j package, and I am receiving in an ac3 input. However, I notice that the sound is not synched up with the picture and I believe it is because the default kx ac3 decoding is slow or done in software. Is there any way to route this to the on card dolby digital ex decoder and get a hardware solution that might be faster? Or else is there any kind of software ac3 decoder I could route it through that would be faster? Also, if someone could provide details as to how I could route it that way, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
